Curlin racing in 2008
|
|
Sounds great, but I'll believe it when I see it.

:) Come om Merasmag get your facts right. You can drink here in Dubai. It is very western here, no problems and a lot of fun! Come on Curlin we will bed down your big stall deep for you. And, I think you will love the 3F strech at Nad Al Sheba!:D

I agree with Steve Byk's comments about Curlin racing this year. As he pointed out it would be interesting to see if the ownership questions about Curlin were settled whether he would be racing. I think not.
|
Glad to see a champion and a horse of his calibur returning for thier 4yo campaign. However, he is going stink up alot of big races that were pretty good betting races this year. Most of his races will probaly be 5 and 6 horse fields, since I don't think connections are going to be lining up to take a shot against the BIG horse.

Unless there are claims of alterior motives, it's hard not to take note of Curlin's 4 year old campaign and it's benefit for racing. There is a lot of well deserved cynasism on this board, and one of the major topics is the dearth of older horses staying the course, so I'm pretty psyched to hear of Curlin continuing on. Am I missing anything?

I'm happy he is racing. I just think he wouldn't be without the ownership problems

He won't run more than 5 races and there will be absolutely no betting value...unless he's a play against, which will be highly unlikely.
Just don't care. |
Curlin is nominated for the Mineshaft Feb. 9 here at The Fair Grounds, among other noteworthy nominations, Indian Blessing, Proud Spell, War Pass, Pyro, Z Fortune, Better Talk Now.
I think it's just great to bring him back instead of retiring him to stud. http://www.fairgroundsracecourse.com..._01282008.html Going to be a great day, really looking forward to Derby Preview day. Edit...whoops sorry realized I used great twice....not saying anyone in particular is great...just going to be a great day here to see all those horses. |
Thought this was interesting.....
Excerpt..... Asmussen then met with Jess Jackson, the principal owner of Curlin, and outlined the options. If Curlin goes to Dubai for the World Cup, he'll have a preparatory race there, the trainer said; if the Horse of the Year remains in this country, he'll probably begin his campaign next Saturday in the Mineshaft in preparation for the New Orleans Handicap on March 8. http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/...ry/448726.html |
Fair Grounds is the place to be next weekend.
|
I wonder what people are going to be saying if Curlin runs his prep in Dubai then runs in the World Cup and then isn't seen in this country until July or August for two races before retiring?

I, for one, hope he stays here. NT |
Shipping in for a prep is crazy. You go in for the big one and get the hell out.
My guess is they aren't going.....and if they do they won't prep there first. |
and we get to find out who's in on MONDAY!
