Turf Hidden Sire lookout: Najran

Being by Runaway Groom it shouldn't be a surprise but his turf progeny have improved close to 5 points via the surface switch (TG).

I was always fond of that Zito runner, is this his first crop?

This info would be useful if you are handicapping River Downs or if Finger Lakes decides to put in a turf course. They may run faster on the turf but dont run nearly fast enough.

Volponi's had been running very well on the turf....scoring upset wins on major circuits.

They've been a laughing stock on dirt however.

Really? I was unaware of that.
I guess he is out of a Sir Harry Lewis mare (Irish Derby winner) so I guess it isn't that shocking, but I didn't expect Volponi's to win on any surface.

Didn't Volponi break his maiden in the Pilgrim on turf?

Really nice people at Hopewell Farm but I dont see how they are makin it. While Najran's look ok as babies they dont seem to be running well and Skip Away's you gotta wait on em until they are 3 or so. Royal Anthem didnt pan out for them and they sold him to Ireland. Not sure how they keep goin.
