I guess after the first quarter in just a few hundreds under 24 he was in pretty good shape.

Nice performance. Hopefully it will be a precursor to more good races.

declansharbor 01-17-2008 03:57 PM

Hell of a run by Commentator.
What was the track record at the distance prior to this?

It's a good thing you're not training him.

LOL

Had a feeling that one was coming.

Actually, I've been wondering for awhile now when Zito would come to his senses and realize that this horse cannot be competitive sprinting against top notch sprinters.

His game is mile racing. especially in races devoid of any real speed burners.

I'd like to see him run in races like the Met mile I suppose.

hoovesupsideyourhead 01-17-2008 04:02 PM

whatever......and yes it is.....why not ..if hes doing that good..take a shot.

Don't know it in hundreds but it was 1:33 4/5.

Judging by the 2nd race he probably gets a number in the 105 range.

It's in 16 days. He's a 7YO who just made his 16th start.

Do you need any more reasons?

hoovesupsideyourhead 01-17-2008 04:06 PM

nope.........but he could win..lol

whodey17 01-17-2008 04:07 PM

It was a performace that would be expected. He won an optional claiming race. Don't worry, Mr Zito will continue to put this horse in the wrong spots. He cannot help himself. I really believe Zito has Napoleon's syndrom.

There are very few stakes races at a mile and only about two of them have been run while he was racing sound. One was last year's Met Mile and for him to have made his debut in that race, off almost a 10 month layoff, might have been a questionable choice. The other was the Cigar Mile in 2004 which might have been a good idea but hard to say.

Finding races for this horse is hard....but keeping him sound is obviously harder.

He won for the 10th time in 16 starts.

You're obviously right, as usual, that Nick has put him in one poor spot after another.

What, exactly, are your accomplishments in this game?

No arguments from me on either point, but still, those races seem perfect for him.

I can't remember, has he ever tried mile races on turf? Turf at all?

hoovesupsideyourhead 01-17-2008 04:10 PM

oh well nice horse ..and a great performance..

huh??
It doesnt really matter what kind of race it was, he set a track record. You obviously were trying to stir the pot when saying that about Zito. Just wondering how much money you won through training horses? I'm sure it pales in comparison to NZ.
