Lovely Isle @GP

Frankel's Lovely Isle stepping up in class and set to run this weekend at GP...

http://www.drf.com/news/article/91498.html

He doesn't, read the article, she was turned over to Dutrow right away. Frankel bought her for Bello, and then turned her over right to his boy Dutrow

Trained by Dutrow I know...I thought Frankel had nothing to do with her...Lo siento...my mistake.

Can big figures earned in wire to wire fashion over the inner dirt ever be legitimate?

Lovely Isle

So much for that one......

bad, bad favorite

blackthroatedwind 01-12-2008 04:35 PM

Anyone that bet this horse today deserved to lose their money.

King Glorious 01-12-2008 04:37 PM

Exactly right. Even Stevie Wonder could see what was coming up. I believe u called this right away after the big win. I was looking for the post but couldn't find it.

It really depends on who trains them. I predicted this horse was a disasterous buy when she sold.

blackthroatedwind 01-12-2008 04:39 PM

I honestly thought the winner should have been a heavy favorite.

The Bid 01-12-2008 05:47 PM

YOu were right

Agreed completely... first thing I said when I saw the replay was I can't wait to bet against this one. I liked the CRC shipper on the turnback... no excuse. Had a fine trip and wasn't nearly good enough.

Too bad for me that my longshot stab clunked up for 3rd with the other two that made tons of sense pay $1,790.

Really? You haven't seen enough Calder specialists by this point? Gotta be the quirkiest track in the country. I was all over the winner but didn't have anyone right underneath so just gave away money.

Another in a long list of horses purchased from Contessa off a huge Aqueduct inner race that will likely never run back to that huge effort

Scav 02-07-2008 01:56 PM

Run back on Saturday in the Grade 1 Las Virgenes(?). She will undoubtly be favored against this group with the trainer name change and could be a great bet against. (first time synth, lots of traveling, crazy track issues)

blackthroatedwind 02-07-2008 02:55 PM

Her lack of talent could be a problem as well. I have no idea who she's running against, and maybe they all suck, and she is loose, but she aint much horse.

Grace Anatomy and Tasha's Miracle are two BC horses that are running in the race.

I agree, but just wanted to throw it out there for sake of argument since this horse was big conversation starter

This is horrible but unfortunately, this is the way the game goes today. There will always be a grade one race out there that's nothing more than allowance level quality and horses that have no business with the title of grade one winner.....become just that.

I guess the past winners of this race reads very well but has it been a Grade 1 quality race in recent years?

On the other hand, as you basically said, do we ever have this anymore outside of the BC?

Linny 02-07-2008 09:13 PM

Didn't Rags win this last year?
