No Racing Today at Santa Anita Today

I just heard that they are not running today.

Rootdog1 01-06-2008 01:09 PM

is this a good source? Maybe the track is just slow to communicate it out...

It was from one my trainers.

Cancelled per HRTV

blackthroatedwind 01-06-2008 01:20 PM

Running only 5 1/2 Furlong races and having at least one match race would have been a disgrace.

What an unfortunate situation.

theiman 01-06-2008 01:21 PM

They just cancelled racing at SA--per the SA web site

letswastemoney 01-06-2008 01:22 PM

I would have bet those races. The odds of picking the winner would significantly increase :)

tiggerv 01-06-2008 01:37 PM

Supposedly the CHRB is meeting Tuesday to discuss Hollywood as an option. They need to move ASAP and have Thurs card there.

Perhaps they can get SA back up and running for the last 2 months of the meet but its a complete disaster now and they may have made the situation worse this weekend trying to fix it.

The Bid 01-06-2008 01:39 PM

The track looked terrible on HRTV, however Millie Ball and Stevens still differ to the bad weather. Why isnt the track being discussed? They brought up 2 times in the last 10 years when SO Cal cancelled racing, once in 05, and once back in the 90s.

BTW it is a disgrace. The track is a disgrace, the propaganda is a disgrace, and the lies are a disgrace. Why doesnt the CHRB step up and apologize to the trainers, owners, and fans. The CHRB will deflect to Cushion Track, but Cushion track was one of many options. This issue lies directly on Shapiro, and the CHRB

There is no fixing it unless they rip the base out they are so dumb its incredible

They cancelled a whole meet of turf racing at HOL a few years back. Guess they forgot about that.

The Bid 01-06-2008 01:43 PM

Bill, the turf isnt the issue.

I heard they were going to start taking races off the synthetic and running them on the grass. synthetic off, grass yielding

Rupert Pupkin 01-06-2008 01:51 PM

If they do end up moving to Hollywood Park, there will be no turf racing. There is no grass there right now. I guess this is the time of year where they work on the grass to get it ready for the Spring/Summer meet.

The Bid 01-06-2008 02:02 PM

At least the turf horses can stay on the main cushion and have a fighting chance if they dont buzz down there in 107 for 3/4 with 12 claimers

Turf racing at Santa Anita and dirt racing at Hollywood? I have no idea if it is possible but I am guessing alot of trainers have horses/help at both tracks already

Hialeah had the best dirt track in the country too. Just the worst track owner.

Many trainers do have horses and help at both tracks but I still think it is highly unlikely that there will be racing at both tracks at once.

You would know better then I do, I was just throwing it out there. Hopefully they get the whole ordeal resolved ASAP for all people that are involved.
