Spun Sugar $4,500,000

Chuck, what does "Cribber" mean? Saw that under the pregnant sign on the final price.

Thanks,

Spyder

She is a beautiful looking mare.

Probably one of the best 2yo's in Europe in 2004.

Thought she would make quite a bit, but not this much. Just shows you what a coolmore/darley bidding war can do.

Means they chew their stalls up, biting on the wood, etc.

A horse that is a cribber sucks in air by biting on the top part of wood and pulling it's chin inward. They seem to get a "high" somehow and once they start can't stop. It can also be a "learned" thing by the other horses watching. There are collars that you can buy to put around there necks wich prevent them from being able to suck in air, but once it's left off they go right back to cribbing. We have one at the barn that is so obsessed with doing it that he will even crib on the cross ties while being saddled. Very annoying to say the least and I feel it can depriciate their value.

A knock-on effects of high oil prices and weak dollar may be in play here.....

some still do it even with the cribbing strap on, sometimes you can paint pepper on the crossbar and wood of the stall etc etc but once it dries they start the sh1t again

Shoot, my gelding just thought hot sauce was a condiment.... He picked his up while he was recovering from a broken seasmoid, and would even crib on the side of the horse trailer if you left him tied to long. And they are a total b**ch to keep weight on too. I would never, ever, ever....did I mention ever? buy a cribber. Oh and the "miracle collar" they came out with???? If horses can laugh, Red laughed at me when I spent the $50 bucks and put it on him. did not help one bit.
