Where is the Monkey?

O.k.. O.k.. I know all of you are sick of talking about this horse, but just out of curiosity has anyone heard if he retired now to stud as well as most seem to do at this time of year? If not, has anyone heard if he plans on running again any time soon? My guess is he goes off to the shed.:p Stud fee of about $50k:rolleyes:

He is with Pletcher's SoCal string at Hollywood Park

If he stands for $5K it would be a face saving measure. He might have a shot at $2500 and even that is a stretch. They'd be much better off racing him if they can. Give him five or six tries and he might break his maiden. And seriously, the gap between the maidens and the stakes horses next year is going to be about 7 lengths.

dude, you seem rather pessimistic tonight!

Linny 11-03-2007 09:57 PM

He hasn't even got the pedigree to make a stallion. He'd make a nice gelding though.

NoChanceToDance 12-22-2007 04:35 PM

I can confirm he is now at Coolmore (sorry if anyone has posted this before).

However, I'm not sure if he is there just for a break (like he needs one) or whether he is actually there to stand as a stallion.

I agree, was going to say something like that myself.

JJP 12-22-2007 06:26 PM

He'll stand for 50,000......pesos that is.

NoChanceToDance 12-22-2007 06:26 PM

This is just a guess, but I reckon he is back there for a possible private sale. I can't imagine they are going to hang on to him and a friend of mine has just said that he isn't entered in the January sale at Keeneland.

I will try and find out the real reason he is currently at Ashford.

MaTH716 12-22-2007 06:36 PM

He is training right up to the claiming crow, oh I mean Breeders Cup Classic.

TBJUNKY 12-27-2007 12:26 PM

I heard his next start will be a match race with Zippy Chippy!!!

Hehe that'd be awesome! Because there's be a good chance he'd be racing at Canterbury then. They host the claiminig Crown 9 out of every 10 years it seems lol.

You can't retire him without some sort of Resume right? If they retired him to stud now, it would almost be the equivalent to being an "unraced sire" lol. Then again, maybe he'd become the flagship sire of Coolmore's new stud venture into Minnesota breeding lol.
