Kip Deville this SAT

Bejarano gets the ride this weekend

Wonder how he is gonna do on getting him out there and stay out there

The Wolfer should be nice in closing

I think Kip is a bet against. He isnt going to get an easy lead this weekend and the public is going to throw the money on him being the best horse running coming out of the Turf Cup. How the hell will Steppenwolfer do on the grass? Who knows. Seaside Retreat could be usable at a good price. He looked good in a turf stakes at Woodbine last month and with Showing Up out, this race is wide open.

I am really looking forward to seeing what kip deville does with a good rider like Bejarano--should answer a lot of questions about his ability this weekend. Based on his last performance he is eligible to bounce but his effort in the colonial cup was effortless (meaning he was free running, not meaning it wouldn't tire him) so he may have stayed within himself. I look for him to hit the board Sat.

I got news for ya'll. Manchu Prince is the goods on the turf. I love him coming in here under the radar a little bit.

I think all of you are selling Quincy short. He is a rider just looking for a comming out party. He dosent have the skins on the wall that Raffie has but do you think he lost the race by taking him to the front. Have any confered with Dutrow? Was he told not to go to the lead and try to steal the race. Wasnt he about 12/1. When I first asked everyone about the new ownership all thought they overpaid for this Ok bred. Why was Quincy on board last out? I dont think he was Dutrows firsr choice. The Name riders wernt lining up for the mount and Dutrow went to plan B.C or D. My cobntentionis ont expect any rider to give a much better ride. This young rider has some big talent And this modestly bred horse is a star, probably a notch or two below the gr1s but a very nice horse.

Watching alot of the 2nd tier tracks over the past couple years, I know that Quincy has some skills as a jockey. It was amazing to me that they let KD go off at 25-1 in the Turf Cup.

While he wasn't urging KD through those fast fractions, he wasn't trying to restrain him either. I hate when a jock chokes down a horse, but sometimes it has to be done. Do you think if Valezquez would not have held back on English Channel, do you really think he would have won that race on Saturday? KD was 25-1, I bet him then, this weekend, I'll watch, because he won't be near those odds. As for the other jocks not lining up, I believe Prado already had a commitment and maybe they just decided to let the guy who knew the horse have a chance, but he blew it, so on to Bejerano. I believe Bejarano is one of the best on a speed turf horse, he was on a tear at Keeneland about 2 years ago winning with turf horses on the front end, also see Intercontinental in the BC...

How can you say he blew it at 25/1? Took an exceptional horse to beat him. If you think another rider could have improved him, you are giving the jock tooo much cedit. KD lost to a better horse. A screwup by the jock is just reaching for straws.

They went 1:08 and change and he was about 20 lengths clear and still held on for 2nd, the jock wasn't urging him, but he sure wasn't doing anything to restrain him. I don't believe that Showing Up is an exceptional horse, nice horse, very good horse, but he had a ground saving trip and ran down a horse that was setting lightening fast fractions, I am not impressed by that in the least bit. What I was impressed by was a freak like performance and still holding on for 2nd, if he restrains him a little KD wins that race. I am in no way shape or form a jock-fan, stated that many many times on ESPN Board, but it's rediculous to say that they do not play a part in the race, especially Turf races. Just because he was 25-1 doesn't mean it's a price in line with his capabilities, I was just going to watch the race and when they popped up 25-1 on KD, I couldn't run to my computer quick enough, I never bet to win, but at those odds, I went with a win bet and lost. Bejerano is the best turf speed jock going, KEE usually favors deep closers, but I have seen him wire fields on the front end...

Shouldn't teaching a rank horse to rate itself a bit be a trainer/exercize rider's job and not a race day obligation of a rider?

We've all seen MANY horses fight their respective riders and more often this has disasterous results. Unless Kip Deville is taught, or can be taught ( this is probably the biggest problem ), to rate then no rider in history is going to randomly show up on him and perform miracles.

Seaside Retraet is VERY intriguing to me at a solid price in here.....

Same here. IMO, KD doesn't hit the board this time around.

What price are you talking about? His ML is 5-1 and he will likely go off lower than that.

randallscott35 07-11-2006 01:35 PM

On second thought, the field is good enough where you could see 8-1.

eurobounce 07-11-2006 01:36 PM

What is funny is you got 25-1 on KD 3 weeks ago. This weekend you will get 4-1 or so on the horse. 4-1 is still good odds. But I will pass on this horse and this race.

randallscott35 07-11-2006 01:36 PM

I'll bet Go Between again.

I hope KD wins. It would make Showing Up's win look even more impressive. The Mott 3yr old though is probably the best 3yr old grass horse outside of Showing Up.

Personally I would like to see Steppenwolfer win it. He deserves a lot of credit for all the races he showed up in this year.

That's very true. He's a nice, consistent colt. I'm interested in seeing how he runs on the turf.
