bad night all round on saturday

the tragic loss of george just capped off a misreable night for euro racing. zero winners.. excellent art and passage of time ran quite well given their circumstances but were beaten by better horses with better trips.. dylan ran as expected and coolmore are probably thinking why oh why did we not bring Soldier Of Fortune over for it... lets hope the euros (and the weather!) is better next year for Santa Anita..

A tragic night.

The defeats of the others mean so little compared to what else happened.

yep, exactly... i read somewhere that there is only one mare (in Italy!) in foal to George Washington.. It'd be brilliant if it turned out to be a superstar.. I really miss him, he was just such a star.

Ed Magnier said the same thing. So i'm guessing it is probably true now i have heard it from two different sources.

He got six mares in foal to start with though, didn't he?

yeah, thats what they were saying when he was put back into training that he got 6 mares in foal at the end and that his fertility was slowly improving and that he could come back stronger the next year.. shame..

I wonder what happened with the other five mares?

Im no expert on this but what i believe what happens is that they were probably reported very early on and nature took its course of action.. there can be loads of problems regarding mares in foal esp early on.. hopefully, someone more knowledgeable than moi can help out..
