Thank You Steve
For interviewing Dr. Ruggles today; getting an update on Teufelsberg and everything else that happened on Saturday.
I logged on a bit late 10 mins in, but will catch the beginning on archives. Thank you. |
This is what makes ATR the most timely, best racing radio program - THANKS!
Edit: Steve, if you get an extra 30 seconds to fill, can you restate what Dr. Ruggles essentially said about Teuf? Missed the first 45 min of the show, won't be able to get archives until tomorrow? |
Whaahooo, the archives for today are already up! Love the new website setup.

Archive page below... "Hour 1" (where it says Rich Rosenblatt who actually didn't make it...) Dr. Alan Ruggles of Rood & Riddle right from start of Show and gave outstanding explanations of everything that happened Saturday and an update of Teufelsberg's condition from 30 minutes earlier. http://www.thoroughbredracingradione...,08/Itemid,35/ Quote:
Thanks for the very kind compliment. Reading Dr. Ruggles comments between the lines, I thought he said Teufelsberg was 'in tough'... Those who missed the show should also enjoy Tom Proctor (Purim), Rusty Arnold (Wicked Style) and Frank Brothers (Tessa Blue). All three were really informative. (Hour 3)... |

Just a note: DRF and Bloodhorse don't have the up-to-date facts that Steve got us straight from the Doc's mouth today regarding Teuf :-) |

Marty McGee in DRF: "Noted equine surgeon Dr. Larry Bramlage was scheduled to perform surgery at the Rood and Riddle clinic to repair fractured sesamoids in both front ankles Monday afternoon, Sanders said. "This has been devastating for all of us," said Sanders. "Fortunately, Dr. Bramlage is giving him an 80 percent chance to recover and hopefully be able to go on to a stallion career." Teuflesberg suffered what was described as a closed fracture of his left front sesamoid less than a quarter-mile into the six-furlong Phoenix Stakes on Saturday. Jockey Julien Leparoux pulled the colt up and was not injured. However, apparently while trying to keep weight off his injured leg, the colt also incurred a less serious fracture of his right front sesamoids, said Sanders, and surgery was scheduled for both joints." This is pretty strange... Dr. Ruggles had been by the colt at 3:30pm; said he did NOT fracture the right front; and would be operated on later in the week... Maybe something changed between 4:15-7:00, and Jamie Sanders gave McGee the latest. However, it doesn't appear from the piece that McGee spoke to Rood & Riddle as it's devoid of quotes from Bramlage or anyone else. Curious. If the matchup is Dr. Ruggles at Rood & Riddle v. Jamie Sanders, I'm inclined to go with the Vet. Will try this morning to get latest news. |
just got to hear the replay, good interview steve! good info.

Thanks very much. I thought Dr. Ruggles was very informative and succinct. Think we got everything out that people would want to know... And as a follow-up to the above, Dr. Ruggles information appears accurate as opposed to what was written in the McGee piece (quoting Sanders). |

And yes I think this is going to be a really tough road, but hoping for the best on this hard working, very nice colt. Oh yeah and I really enjoyed the interviews with the lesser known trainers that had wins, esp. Tom Proctor and talking about Jamie Theriot and Purim... (BTW it is pronounced Teriot, like terrier...TH is not pronounced in south LA... , we really don't know how to talk down here...ie Da Saints is really The Saints and Who Dat is really Who's THAT..) |
