Scrimshaw is a sire?......LOL..WOW...For some reason it seems more odd (to me )that Scrimshaw and Shaniko are making kids.

Head out to some of the random farms in places like Oklahoma and New Mexico if you really want to see some interesting horses who are still standing at stud.

I would rather bred 100 mares to Noble Causeway than 1 to Storm Cat for the same $500K.

His bloodlines aren't bad a soneof Giants Causeway out of a Seekng the Gold mare. I could see him getting some decent runners if bred to some decent mares.

Man you guys are tough, I could see if he was a only competing in claiming races instead of graded races.

I agree.

there are/were sons of seattle slew standing for no stud fee. show's what a decent bloodline can do for you.

there are more accomplished sons of his at stud, maybe not for the fee, but certainly more capable horses out there.

It's a strange vibe, but I have a feeling he does a good job at stud.

I really thought this horse would develop into something very good back in the spring of his 3yo season...guess I was wrong

While I don't share your "vibe," it is certainly at least possible. Given how slow he was, it doesn't seem very probable, but we all know that the way a horse performs on the track is not usually a great indicator of how they will do in the shed.

Well, I think Giant's Causeway has been vastly overrated as a sire, so I wouldn't necessarily jump to breed to NC, but for $5,000, it's not like they're gouging anyone.

Oh yeah? Well one of the most brilliant pedigree experts in the world would disagree with you on that one. Take a look: http://www.derbytrail.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10976
