Lawyer Ron, PRemium Tap, Invasor, Silver Train; those are some very nice horses he's run second behind.

I thought when he ran so bad in the Classic after it seems missing a prep and running so poorly in his first starts this year that he might have been been done, at least as far as chasing the G 1 win. Then he runs real good in the Woodward.

I didn't watch the races too closely today but it didn't look like closers/deep closers did well at all.

slotdirt 09-30-2007 07:12 PM

I completely disagree. Sun King's biggest scores have never been at classic distances; yet he constantly is thrown in races against the very best the handicap division has to offer. The horse is a good, solid horse - he just needs to have the oppotunity to run in a distance that suits him.

miraja2 09-30-2007 07:16 PM

All of his graded stakes wins have come at distances between 7f and 9f. I think he is still capable of winning a few more graded stakes races at those distances if he is spotted correctly.
He didn't run THAT terribly today. At least he beat the horses he was supposed to beat and picked up a check.

I would hope after today we will see him in the BC Mile and 70 yards where he should have a good chance.

I've always liked Sun King, not to win but to figure into exotics. I would love to see him win a big race. Zito doesn't shy away from putting him in with some tough company.

whodey17 10-01-2007 08:44 AM

Come on, Nick Zito is the best trainer in the past 25 years. I am sure he knows what is best for Sun King. His win % over the past two years cleary shows that Zito is on top of his game and that he knows what is best for all of his horses.

Exposed--how so?

And I will was giving Nick his props for a great training job the past two years.

Umm I am not jealous, I created whodey when eurobounce was banned. the host of this site even sent me an apology stating that he didnt mean to ban me for life but for only 2 weeks; to which i said no problem. and I have never made a fake bet in my life. Mde plenty of losing bets. In fact, I have to have the board lead in making losing bets. If you can prove I did make fake bets, then please show me.

seems to me that Sun King is a dead closer that needs speed to fall apart ahead of him at this level. To me, he was a throwout yesterday since the race did not look to shape that way.

retire Sun King:cool:

No need for that, now. Though, having earned in excess of $2 million, he really has done enough.

Sun King is slowly becoming a starter in the race that features horses that finish 2nd, 3rd 4th and 5th. So far we have:

Funny Cide
Evening Attire
Perfect Drift
Bluegrass Cat

I need at least 5 more for my mythical race. I think Sun King has proved he belongs in this race.

whodey17 10-02-2007 09:48 AM

Again, prove to me that I ever made a mythical bet. And I admit that I rarely hit them, but it is still fun trying.

That would be much easier to prove. My point is don't make assumptions unless you are able to prove your assumption.
