The Cushion Track received a quick trial the weekend before Oak Tree began when an unseasonably hard rain hit Southern California Sept. 22. Track management discovered the surface did not drain as anticipated, and out of that came a decision to harrow the track deeply every Monday.

That answer made no sense nor addressed the problem of the track not draining properly.

Suppose it rains on Thursday night, how did harrowing on Monday help?

The drainage was clogged, or not hooked up correctly. It needs to be addressed ASAP. There was no problem with the drainage at HP from the same storm.

i forgot where I read it but somewhere they said that the drains were clogged with some kind of construction debris. I believe it has been addressed. everything gets pushed to the last moment and then you find after installation little mistakes or oversights from rushing to meet the deadline. in my view there should be a longer acceptance process involved with these surface changes to allow time to work out the kinks and for things to stabilize. it seems like they plan it to the day so that training starts the day after construction and racing follows three days later. that type of stuff is nonsense.

i do think you 2 are on to the major problem that has surfaced with this track so far. we'll have to watch how it handles the rain, no question.
