Surf cat to run in the Oak Tree Mile

1 mile turf.

a very interesting move by heady lamarr.

He rarely ships so is left to run him on the turf or on the cushion turf. At least one surface will be somewhat comparable to what they run on in the BC.

Indian Charlie 09-20-2007 12:38 AM

well, yeah, that's what i'm thinking too.

just came as a surprise that they'd aim for the bc turf mile.

The other thing is that he must have Arson Squad at his peak for the Goodwood.

That horse worked 7f today at Santa Anita in 1:21 2/5.

I just like the way you said Heady Lamarr

From what I've heard, they are pointing for the Dirt Mile. Headley likes the turf to dirt angle and frankly, there are no other dirt miles to use to get ready with. I feel that with a horse with the physical problems that Surf Cat has historically had, the mile on turf might be a little easier on him than the Ancient Title. I like the move though. A good performance opens up the Turf Mile door for him.

10 pnt move up 09-20-2007 01:21 AM

this is the move that in betweens usually make in this race. remember congarees flop at 3/5 in this one only to rebound in the Cigar a month later.

Isnt the Mile on the turf at SA, the same race as Crossing The Line and Lava Man?

CTL, yes.

i've read conflicting stories about lava man. i've read multiple times that he's running in the goodwood, and the mile!

Have to think that Crossing the Line could handle both Lava Man and Surf Cat right now.

wow

RolloTomasi 09-20-2007 06:00 PM

No lie. The Santa Anita poly is rock hard right now. Some horse went 5/8s in sub-57 the other day.

2Hot4TV 09-21-2007 06:55 AM

Santa Anita is Cushion wth a speed twist and I expect Headley to have a better showing than he had at Hollywood Park.

Surf Cat is the most brittle horse in America. I wouldn't bet on him running on BC weekend at even odds.

May have been the brisnet Handicapper's Edge last week that mentioned the Clement L Hirsch on turf for Lava Man. I'm so confused.
