Maybe 125 is the charm
Puerto Rican mare can eclipse mark for horse racing futility
The Associated Press September 18, 2007 SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico: A Puerto Rican mare who hasn't won much of anything could at least claim a piece of horse racing history. Dona Chepa, who has lost 124 consecutive races to match the futility set by Ouroene in Sydney between 1976 and 1983, could surpass the Australian horse if she loses on Wednesday, said Joe Bruno, spokesman for the Camarero Racetrack in eastern Puerto Rico. Bad luck has followed the 9-year-old Dona Chepa since Valentine's Day in 2001. Her closest brush with victory came in May 2003, when she finished second, Bruno said. The horse has won US$12,971 (€9,353) despite results that include 22 fifth-place finishes. The race track where Dona Chepa will compete is named after a Puerto Rican horse that won 56 consecutive races. http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/...sing-Horse.php |

When I first saw the title of this thread I thought it would be about the unfortunate streak of 124 consecutive sucky posts that OneBadBeat has going right now.
So, Dona Chepa has lost 124 in a row? I was so moved to take the ten seconds and look up her pedigree. Her sire is by Riva Ridge out of a mare named The Bride - who is a full sister to the mighty Secretariat. Even though she hasn't been euthanized yet - doesn't Dona Chepa deserve to be the first living horse enshrined in the Angels thread? She's done enough. |
Perfect mate for Zippy Chippy perhaps?

When traveling around the Chicago area do you wear a blue leotard and have a long red cape? Perhaps a big "S" on your chest. |
