Not the person actually responsible.. but someone.

Danzig 09-17-2007 09:28 PM

shame the vet gets the ban, and not the one giving him orders.

Well he could have said "No"... He knew what the remifications would be if he got caught.....Now he has no job. Was it worth it?

Since they put in a donut shop by my place a few months ago, I'm having a damn hard time saying no.

Six more downed this morning.....the jelly and powdered sugar are like crack.

That combined with Mario's having $5.99 large Pizza's on Monday and Wednesdays is making me the only person running two miles every other day and gaining weight.

If you look at Biancone's past - I guess it seems pretty clear he cheats. But, I'm going to rejoice anytime I hear about a vet being suspended for five years. Agressive vets are as much to blame as any person for the problems this sport has.

You hear a lot of stories about trainers letting vets make way too many decisions for them.

Stewart practices medicine to his own standards of conduct, like any other licensed professional. No one gives him "orders". It's no different than your own physician choosing, or not choosing, to prescribe you illegal medications just because you ask for them.

We'll see what they give Biancone.

He got what he deserved. He has more violations relative to Kentucky rules than you can run and jump over.

Biancone is already currently serving two suspensions and has been banned from Japan. Not too hard to figure out who was calling the shots here.

I have no idea why they just don't ban this guy. There are plenty of good trainers out there that could do the same thing he does with the horses he is given.

He would be the perfect guy to make an example out of.

am i the only one insisting on being extremely naive and pretending that while Biancone's vet was punished, this isn't by any means meant to serve as a scapegoat or provide closure, but we will infact soon hear of a larger, if not lifetime ban issued against the guy calling the shots ?

my point was that the vet shouldn't be the only one banned. yes, he administered illegal medicine, but i have a hard time believing it was not at the suggestion of the trainer.

I agree with you regarding the banning. I hope we see something more.

But I have no sympathy for the vet. The vet is at the mercy of the trainer only as far as losing that client goes. I've fired an over-the-top client or two over the years (much to their amazement and disbelief that that can occur ;)

A client can ask, but the vet has to say, "yes" or "no". You are solely responsible for your own professional line in the sand. It's your professional license, and, "but the client told me to" is ludicrous and pathetic defense.

Bottom line is that as trainers, we are 100% responsible for whatever is found illegal in our horses system, or on the stable grounds in our possesion, or in our tack rooms. Whether we instruct a vet to administer a certain drug, or if it was done on their suggestion, the trainer is or should be held 100% responsible.

I'm hoping to see that 100% .....

Funny, drugs, where I live there's a Mario's pizza and a Dunkin' Donuts right in immediate proximity of eachother.

that's true, he could have said no to the offer of refrigerator space..

the adage birds of a feather flock together certainly fits some racing personalities....these two had similar thinking, hopefully they share similar sentencing. altho i think in biancones case, he's a repeat offender. there should be a three strikes and you're out rule.

Why dont they ever, ever punish the owners? So the hookers and dealers goto jail, the pimps and the financiers stay in business? Slap an owner, I PROMISE the whole thing would change, and right quick.
