Maria's Mon dead

story on the BH.

I always liked that horse, what a bummer.

Something about multiple organ failure.

Coach Pants 09-14-2007 12:35 PM

She was a good one, mon.

SuffolkGirl 09-14-2007 02:07 PM

I just read this on BH - I am so sorry to hear this. Marias Mon has always been one of my favorite sires. RIP

That's a shame. He was a terrific horse who unfortunately was not the same horse, or even close, after his injury as a 2YO.

Anyone remember what horse he easily defeated in their respective debuts?

Not to be mean to the deceased but I despised his progeny. In my history of wagering, I think Monarchos was the only winner I ever had from Maria's Mon, so I was like 1 for 101,343.

Yes, even her. When didn't bet, she won by open lengths, when bet, a galloping 3rd

I'm sure that right before he passed, the last thought that crossed his mind was,"If only I could have sired a winner for that guy who gets lost in his own hometown...."

This is pretty much what I go through with everything in Pletcher's stable outside of Rags to Riches.

We'll see if the 15 going through the ring in the next 2 days have price bumps.

"Sire of 8 crops of racing age, 629 foals, 436 starters, 28 stakes winners, 331 winners of 947 races earning $25,832,451 and $1,216,077 (CAN) in N. America, including Wait a While, Monarchos, High Limit."

sumitas 09-14-2007 08:48 PM

He just had a 9 yr. old gelding win at Thistledown, Whiskey Road.

Danzig 09-14-2007 10:54 PM
