CASE DISMISSED: Jock Weight Case Over..

If there's not a full acquittal, there's no justice in this world.

I think that not only should there be an acquital, a nice civil suit will wind up being filed.

Some believe that it was the NYRA itself (since they had legal problems of their own at the time) who threw these guys to the wolves in order to make themselves look good.

Sclafani and Baeza Relieved At Full Acquittal

Baeza, a Hall of Fame rider, and Sclafani, who were at the trial, expressed relief after Judge Scarano cleared their names.

"For three years, I have been stall-walking," Baeza said. "It is a happy ending, but the damage is already done. You can’t take back those three years."

Albany Times-Union story calls the result a "stunning defeat for state prosecutors and the governor"... This is of course the same embarassingly inept publication that in 2004 had Sclafani and Baeza tarred and feathered seconds after the idiotic initial charges were brought... As I mentioned tonight on "ATR", and as was echoed in strong wording by Chuck, this was a ridiculous, politically motivated farce from the start. And I'm anxious to see if the result is as widely and as prominently trumpeted as the original story..

The sad thing is that people don't think prosecutors do such things. Newspapers rarely pay attention past the arrest, I hope for their sake the press reports the real truth.
