Barbaro gets new cast... again

Apparently the second one was causing discomfort to Barbaro. Any news like this makes me a bit nervous for him... I hope this type of "setback" doesn't lead to further complications.

That makes me very nervous. That can't be good news.

Says he has a small infection on his left hind, too. Sh@t. Maybe it's nothing, but it is worrisome.

because he is wearing a shoe with a plate that covers the sole of his good foot it stands to reason that the infection is nothing more than a case of thrush--in a normal situation no one would care--in Barbaro's situation it's news but I doubt if they are worried about it. Should go away with topicals like they said.
I don't like the cast change though it reminds me of the article about Nureyev...

I have to believe horse racing people are the most negative people on the face of the earth. This wouldn't even be a story if it wasn't for today's 24-7 need for news and for websites need to fill up space. He wasn't comfortable with the cast, it was a comfort issue. The bone healing is going perfectly.

paisjpq is the voice of reason on the infection too. 100% correct on that one. The infection is not a new issue.

Right now they are worried about nothing more than they have been worried about since day one. For the 100th time there was no "setback".

Yeah, you're right. I'm sure it is thrush.

The exact words from the owner about this "It's not anything to be scared about."

I really wish I wouldn't hear Barbaro's name again until 2007. Every little tidbit makes me nervous.

The horse is far from out of danger, but so far so good.
