Euro racing trivia

I was bored, so i thought i'd start one of these up. I'm sure quite a few of you will have almost impossible questions for the rest of us to answer.

The questions can be anything to do with European horseracing (horses, trainers, jockeys, owners, racing silks, race tracks, races......etc) and also racing in Australia and New Zealand (those should be tricky for me).

Usual rules, the first person to get the question right gets to post their own question and so on.

Right, i will start with a horse question.

Which horse was sent off favourite for an Arc and then the following March was unplaced at 100/1 in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham?

Good Lord, no idea.

Neither!

Look forward to hearing the answer, it's an amazing fall from grace.

No one is even going to have a guess?

Best thing to do is find all the Arc favourites that didn't win and then look up their form. It was within the last ten years.

I had a feeling this was a trick question but it was Montjeu's pacemaker Genghis Ghan in 1999.. With the French coupling, he was sent off 6/4fav!!

Apart from a slight spelling error, you are correct :D

Genghis Khan was made Monjteu's pacemaker and was sent of 6/4 FAV because of them having the same owner.

He wasn't much good, and he then had his second start (i think) over hurdles in the Triumph at Cheltenham, and as his odds of 100/1 stated, he didn't have much of a chance.

Well done, Brock........ your question now.

This is probably really easy, but i have no idea of the answer. If it was before about 1990, which i'm pretty sure it must be i wouldn't have much of a clue off the top of my head.

I will think during today.
