AP polytrack record for 5F beats 5F dirt track record

here's one for all of you.....

The first of Douglas’s win quartet came in the fifth race of the afternoon when he rode Hugh Robertson and Ron Bandy’s Smack Daddy to a track-record performance of :56.51 for the five-furlong distance. That record was set over Arlington’s new Polytrack surface during a race that was originally scheduled for the grass but taken off due to turf conditions. However, the time also eclipsed Arlington’s old main track mark partially held by Shecky Greene – a nationally-known sprinter of another era.

I think Scav mentioned earlier that the AP Poly gets faster following rain.......we've had heavy rain almost every day for two weeks so the Poly couldn't possibly be more soaked.

I expect it to be fast for the rest of the meet, we are going to get another two weeks of rain and won't get a couple days of hot sun with no humidity so I expect the moisture to stay there. :)

At Keeneland a couple two year olds breezed a quarter mile in 20.20 over it during the April 2yo sale under-tack previews.

The longer they run, the slower the times seem to get.

Lori, I heard Steve's mention of your P3 hit yesterday as I was driving home from work...brought a smile to my face after a rough day.

Tell me tell me! What happened? Are you taking me out to dinner Lori?? :D

I got stuck shackled to my terminal till 7:30 and missed the show.

The track was playing pretty swiftly that day, and at least visually, the horses seemed to be just gliding over it and taking to it very well.

With that said, the horse was simply flying down the lane.

Steve just made mention that he had a horrible day, but Lori hit a nice $200 P3.
