Darley gets another one-

MANDURO -

from racingpost!
BARON Von Ullmann's star Manduro will retire to Darley at the end of his racing career.

Manduro, a five-year-old son of Monsun, has won all four of his starts this season, including three Group 1s - the Prix Jacques le Marois, the Prince of Wales's Stakes and the Prix d'Ispahan.

Currently the world's highest-rated racehorse, Manduro is as short as 7-2 for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe later in the season.

Manduro will remain in the ownership of the Baron until his retirement from racing and will continue to be trained by Andre Fabre.

John Ferguson, Sheikh Mohammed's bloodstock advisor, said: "We are delighted to add Manduro to our roster which already includes Monsun's Breeders' Cup Turf winner, Shirocco.

"Manduro has proven this season that he is one of the best turf horses in the world, winning Group 1 races from a mile to one mile and two furlongs in his past three starts this season," he told www.darley.com.

Von Ullmann added: "We are happy to continue our association with Darley after the excellent opportunities given to TigerHill and Shirocco and expect Manduro to be a great success at stud."

Ya know, i think they are.

To be fair, this one was a gimme to Darley though with Shirocco going there after he retired.

I love the horse it was just a shame he was always likely to go to Darley

It's defo too early to tell if Monsun will develop into a sire of sires but if he does, Darley will be in a very strong position with his two best sons - Shirocco and Manduro. I do hope he does though, because I believe it would be great for horse racing. Most Monsuns are tough, strong, late maturing.

If Manduro adds the Arc and Classic to his already impressive resume, it would lift Monsun off the charts.
