It's a fine question, because it is an irrational way of selectinng a winner, hence, a disgrace to a handicapper. Yet, most gamblers(?) believe in such things as streaks, luck and fate
In my opinion, one has to play Names if they have a strong association to you and others involved in your life. Laugh if you will |
I played a horse at Keeneland one time named 'our sophia' for a friend of mine....she won. I know it paid pretty good but I can't remember the odds.
but thats pretty much the only time I've done it....I often see names in the program that I would bet just because I love the name....but I know better. |

Laugh if you will[/quote] I'll agree with that. |
I saw a guy dump about $12,000 at Batavia Downs on a horse called "Meadow Gold" because of his daughter. Didn't work out that day for him. Unfortuantely I don't know what the hell happed to that guy in the end, and I will forever hate Journey for it...

I played a trotter in New Zealand named Tomfisher because my Uncle Tom is an avid fisherman. Won and paid like 47 bucks or something (on the dollar). I had like $5 on him, nice payday!
Granted it was New Zealand dollars.... |

I dropped $20 to win on a horse named Max Power watching a Santa Anita simulcast one day. The night before I was watching the Simpsons when homer took on the alias Max Power...the horse won by open lengths at 13-1

Another friend plays the horse's names instead of looking at a form. She usually shows a profit.:) |
