Is TGM having a garden party?

Rumor has it The Green Monkey's going in a 6.5 furlong race on the turf on the Travers undercard. Is that complete crap or are we all invited to a party on the lawn for the next turf *ehem* "superstar"?

its a prep for the BC mile.

I'm hoping that stands for British Columbia or something. ;)

Ah someone got it mixed with race 3 (1 1/16 on turf for maiden 3yo and up). His is race 2 I bet. Here's the condition book. http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbH...0815-20070903D

Seems much more sane then (can't imagine 1 1/16 on turf for his debut). It's only 6 furlongs also, not 6.5. Must be prepping for the BC sprint eh? ;)

more likely race 4 at 6 1/2.. since race 2 is for 2 year olds

Go the Monkey! A true underdog tale.

Indian Charlie 08-11-2007 08:41 PM

no, you people have it all wrong. he's in the mile and a quarter race that day.

Forget Funny Cide retirement party.....they need to go all out for The Green Monkey's inevitable retirement soon!! They better have saved that song for him.

Yeah I keep forgetting he's no spring chicken. Time flies when you're a monkey with a pulled butt muscle. ;)

Just lurking to blow away in the next steeplechase. Voss or Shepard going to by privatly for 20k and get him some black type in the hurdles so he will have some stud value.

deltagulf 08-12-2007 12:28 PM

its about time he tries to race. to show if he has anything good. or a big bust!!

I just read this on Handicappers Edge today:

Unraced three-year-old THE GREEN MONKEY (Forestry), who sold for a world-record $16 million at auction in 2006, stopped the watch in 1:00 3/5.

When asked if The Green Monkey would be ready to make his debut by the end of the Saratoga meet, Pletcher indicated that "it will be close."

My guess is he does'nt run....

Merlinsky 08-12-2007 08:22 PM

What does this mean? He's gonna see how hard the race comes up and if it's not easy breezy he'll scratch? I dunno if I've seen a horse run before that was actually made of glass. I thought it was just an expression. Should be interesting if he actually gets in the gate.
