Ace (silently) bows out.....

No headline, no article, no blurb, nothing. It's as if he didn't exist.

Screw that.

I've circled the world via email searching and I've found him....

So if no one will pay him the respect he deserves, if the racing world chooses to discriminate against an international warrior, I'll right the wrong on this forum too and take care of it myself.....

Ace has been retired.

Some who aren't fans would question my choice, my sanity, my judgement regarding my favorite remaining horse in training and remind me that he hadn't won since 2004.

I couldn't care less.

He beat Azamour home three different times. Came home ahead of.....

Ouija Board
Bago
Doyen
Elvstroem
Warrsan
Antonius Pius
Soviet Song
Touch of Land
Oracle West
Grey Swallow
Phoenix Reach
Mona Lisa
Norse Dancer

When he left AOB I searched and searched and found him in Dubai where he came soooo close to that elusive win. Lost in a photo - heartbreaking.

Pre-Dubai the rumor was that he'd stand in India and so once i'd seen he'd been exported I again sent email after email begging strangers in other countries for an answer.

I finally got a lead and an email address..... one Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla.

My email to him was overly-emotional and I pleaded for info, news, anything.....

He answered immediately.

Yes he was in India, no he didn't own him, yes he knew who did, yes he might return to ireland eventaully and yes he understood about favorite horses.

Being a moron, I didn't realize until several emails later that this was the billionaire head of the turf club over there and owner of India's finest horses.

Oooops! :D

Anyway, he is safe and loved and as a friend reassured me if he should for some reason remian there? He very well could become the Sunday Silence of India.

Cheers to Ace. He ran his heart out every time and THAT is what it's all about.
