Thank you!

In Florida at this time of year, I'm not sure a good card exists.

Only Calder my friend down there that is racing. Right in the heart of Miami

At least you'll see and can bet Saratoga while at Calder. But Scavs is right unless you want to jump on a plane the choice of what track to visit has been decided and it's Calder

FMC,

On Sept 1, they'll run six stakes for $600,000 at Calder. All for 2 year olds. It's one of my favorite cards of the meet.

As an aside, Calder is nowhere near the heart of Miami.

I don't know if I agree with brian totally, but I have noticed that it always seems to be raining at Calder. I believe sunshine at Calder is a rarity.:)

Thanks a lot for the tips!!

I think I'll go to Calder, then...and watch some Toga racing on TV....:D

I will see those 2yo stakes race...since september 1st is exactly the day i'll be at miami.

Any brazilian horses starting in US race tracks?...lol....i've heard Fly Dorcego payed a good cash last time out!

See you!

Don't listen to what one person thinks is a good card compared to another. You're there to tour the track right? Eventhough it's not running, you can probably tour Gulfstream (Miami's winter track), and the Hialeah (what used to be a Miami staple).

Also, it's live racing, so who cares. I put up with Canterbury. The person who tells you racing is bad is just telling you there there's no graded stakes going. Which is probably true, but don't you want a good betting races with a bunch of average claimers anyway? The only thing that might ruin your day at Calder, is it seems like clock-work they get a monsoon everyday between race 1 and 2 lol. So hopefully the rain will hold off while you're there, and have a good time!

If you're stuck in Orlando, the Jai-Alai and Racebook is where I end up watching races and placing bets. :o

Mickey Mouse Downs. I swear it's right there next to Disney. Instead of blinkers, they all wear funny ear hats :)

Calder actually has good cards this time of year.

Maybe not the highest quality, but they are running a 3 day a week meet now ( Fri., Sat., Sun. )so you are going to see large fields in almost every race.

They are large and competitive fields this time of year and that works for me.

OMG DO NOT SEND THE POOR GUY ANYWHERE NEAR HIALEAH

Gulf is nothing to see unless they're running. That said I'll be back a few times this winter. The advantages of having a brother move there. Hialeah and the area can be dangerous but I guess is part of the American experience. LOL

dellinger63 08-03-2007 09:44 PM
