Saratoga Dorms Question

Has anyone ever lived in the Saratoga dorms while working at the track? Churchill and Gulfstream have very nice dorms with air conditioning, but I was curious about Saratoga. Are the livable? It seems it will be very expensive to stay up there in anything else but the dorms so I guess I am stuck either way, but I was hoping somebody knew.

From what I've seen just walking around back there they don't look too luxurious. . .

Luxurious doesn't matter to me, air conditioning does. Somebody told me they don't have air conditioning and someone told me they did. A tack room isn't really an option because grooms grab those, but I was told I could get a dorm room there.

The ones next to the Oklahoma track don't appear to have A/C as most of the units have fans in the windows. Never been in one to confirm or deny this, however.

That is what I have heard from a reliable source. I think I am going to stay at Churchill even though the live racing at Saratoga is exciting. 6 weeks without air conditioning in the summer is just too tough.

couldn't you bring an AC unit?

I'm not sure if you are allowed to install an AC unit. Could be against code. Most of the dorms are quite old and that whole place is a distaster waiting to happen if an electrical fire were to start.

Yep. That is what I was told. There is some reason why the can't have them. Their dorms are much different than Gulfstream's or Churchills, which are actually buildings, and the ones near the Oklahoma training track are sort of like rundown apartments.

Gulfstream's actually look really nice. Like a hotel, and you even have your own bathroom, but they are still concrete walls, much like a prison because of no way of opening a window.

Churchill's are nice but no private bathroom. Much safer though, but you have to check in, leave ID and pick up a key each time you go in and out.

I would have thought Saratoga would have had the best dorms with air conditioning considering they run in August, but I guess they don't want to spend the money for such a short meet.
