It will be interesting to see what he actually does in his debut.

You never can know for sure what a horse has until they are asked to give everything.

The top rated horse of this decade, Ghostzapper, never looked like all that much horse when he trained.

In the height of the Bobby Frankel dynasty, this half sibling to City Zip (who won all three Saratoga 2yo stake races) paid an eye-popping $25 to win a Hollywood Park 2yo MSW race in his career debut. Logic would suggest that only discouraging reports of his ability could have been the reason why he paid so much that day.

Before his 3-year-old debut, Jerry Bailey worked Ghostzapper, and his feedback about the work was negative...so much so that he talked himself out of the mount.

It is true that the vast majority of the time, when a horse trains like he isn't that much, he often goes on to prove he isn't that much.

But, The Green Monkey is famous because he sold for $16 million, and a part of the reason he sold for that kind of money is because he showed up in a big way when he was asked for everything he had in a blinkered 9.80 1/8th mile drill at Calder.

The fair odds of him making his purchase price back have to be gigantic. But, I wouldn't be that surprised at all if he exceeds these vastly lower expectations.

I hope he does well. It isn't the horses fault he was bought for $16 million.

I think the most unique question is: What price does he go off at?

PG1985 must be gonna put 50 large on him...

Saratoga should write a stakes specifically for The Green Dookie. The Paris Hilton Handicap would be a fitting name. Only useless, rich horses can be nominated.

It always depends on how the field he's running against looks.....however, I'd have to think he will be a short price. Perhaps even money or less.
