Why kids get summer vacations
 
Useless but still interesting trivia on how summer vacation came to be. I always thought it was due to needing kids to work on the farm, but in fact, farm kids used to go to school in the summer.

Let's not forget the teachers who get every holiday and summers off.My brother is a teacher.

Though most of mine went on to summer jobs!

I just thought how it came that kids are off school in summer was interesting- it had nothing to do with agriculture- in fact, the city schools wound up influencing the rural ones!
