Travers or PA Derby?

If you had a really nice 3yr old, say a horse like Delightful Kiss, would you run in the $1M Travers or wait for the $1M Pennsylvania Derby? Obviously the PA Derby will be an easier race to win, but the Travers is the Travers.

If any of Street Sense, Curlin, Hard Spun, or Rags to Riches show up in the Travers then I'd absolutely run DK in the Penn Derby. The horse is gelded so it isn't like the Travers has an advantage on the breeding resume.

I agree with Sniper. To me the Travers would be an obvious choice, but If I felt I couldn't be in the money I would go to the PA. Derby.

I would think money would win out, but Delightful Kiss got shut out of the KY Derby due to earnings and I would have to think they take a shot at the big guys in the Travers. I guess he could do the Haskell and the PA Derby if he doesn't run well there. Or the Jim Dandy and PA Derby.

The smart route would be West Virginia Derby then Penn Derby.

Sums it up.

WV Derby, Penn Derby, Indiana Derby for Delightful Kiss, if he wins them all, then try the big boys in the BC Classic. None of the older horses are better than Street Sense, Curlin or Rags to Riches anyway. Win tons of money in the little 3 yr old races if you're good enough and then go for broke.

Especially this year where if you are good enough to win the Travers you are certainly good enough to win the Classic. Might as well take the easy money while you can and then take the big shot when there are no other big purse easy options.

Whatever one I thought I could win.
