NBA Rookie Money

Somebody help me out here.....Oden,Durant and Green have signed contracts this week. None of them got anything over 4mil a year, and all have 1-2 yr additional contracts setup after initial 2yr deal. I thought that #1's had salary cap approaching 21mil per contract. Anybody have details.....small contracts for guys you want to tie up for life????

Timm,

I may be wrong, but those deals are non negotiable. They are set up by the NBA in order of pick....I'm not sure what the cap is but I'm pretty sure the deals are set...

Timm - click on the link below. This outlines how the salary is structured. Now this is from the 05-06 season but it still very similar.

Whodey and Sam: thanks for the info.....looks like a steal for the team! I realize that we're still talking MONOPOLY money for folks like us!

That's why it is big deal to go in the first round, they get all that money. If you are picked in the second round and get cut you do not get your contract. That's why the guys with the biggest smiles are the last couple of picks of the first round. Even if they bomb they get paid.

They should call it nookie money.
