Triple Bend updates.....
Should be a good one... can't wait. :)
Triple Bend Invitational Handicap invitees Bonfante and Bilo worked five furlongs in :59.20 and 1:01.20, respectively, for the $300,000 test at seven furlongs on July 7. Probable for the Grade I test are: Surf Cat, Alex Solis, 123 pounds; El Roblar, Espinoza, 120; defending champion Siren Lure, Migliore, 120; Silent Name, Nakatani, 119; Greg's Gold, Flores, 118; Battle Won, Michael Baze, 116; Gotaghostofachance, Jon Court, 115; and Publication, David Cohen, 114 |
Yes it will be a good race. I really like Roger Steins horse to upset this bunch.

Love Gotaghost and have since he and Imperialism were kind to me way back when. :)
No pick yet but I'm thrilled he's possible. |
Surf Cat
Did someone say Surf Cat?
A Surf Cat sighting. I love that horse. When was his last race? Obviously must have physical issues throughout his career but boy when he is right.... PSH |
With out looking at current works,I see El Roblar, Gotaghostofachance, Greg's Gold as now horses and Siren Lure,Silent Name as never knowing when they are going to fire. Surf Cat we will have to look at his works and see what he looks like in the paddock before the race. My first mistake is to discount the leading riders mount Battle Won.

Agree, when he's right PSH and yeah Battle Won has been working really well. Tough old warrior..... gotta love him.

Gotaghostofachance barely won a terrible race last out, prior to that was no count versus these types. Siren Lure was beating on cream puffs last year when in form, has taken a decided step back since the BC. Publication had every shot to get second in the Ack Ack and actually let Siren Lure reclaim that spot at the wire. Greg's Gold had 3 tough races right off the bench recovering from a serious injury, imploded in Kentucky and the 7f doesn't seem as good a fit for him as 3/4s. Battle Won is game, but hasn't gotten the job done in easier spots.
I think its between Surf Cat and Silent Name. The former should romp if he's near top form, which is likely considering Headley's work with previous layoff types. He's also a proven router, which is always an advantage going 7f. Silent Name's last is a throwout with the bad break, and the return to a synthetic surface (one he has trained on for several months) makes him attractive at a square price. May have a tactical advantage over Surf Cat with plenty of early speed. Just have to hope no physical issue emerged from the Met Mile (grabbed quarter, etc.). Mandella has finally settled on El Roblar's best trip (late running sprinter), but his class is still in question, so I'll relegate him to minor awards with a couple of Grade 1-2 calibur horses in the lineup. |
DRF.....
El Roblar out of Triple Bend El Roblar, winner of the Grade 3 Ack Ack Handicap here last month, was scheduled to be withdrawn from Saturday's Grade 1 Triple Bend Handicap because of body soreness, trainer Richard Mandella said. Mandella said no specific injuries have been detected but that El Roblar could undergo medical tests. "He's come up stiff and sore," Mandella said. "If we don't figure it out, we'll have to scan him." El Roblar, 5, has battled minor injuries through his career. Owned by Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stable, El Roblar has won 5 of 12 starts and $299,946. http://www.drf.com/news/article/86494.html * * * Battle Won / Gotaghost / Surf Cat |
Surf Cat with Siren Lure and Silent Name battling it out for second. I have a strange love affair with Bilo going on too.
|
Bruce Headley has been in the tank since Hollywood installed Cushion track. That being his choice not to work on the surface I will not play Surf Cat. Looks like I will take a small stab with Silent Name to win.

I thought.....
Surf Cat ran a good race off the layoff, but Talamo's ride was terrific on Bilo!
