Can You Hear Race

just out of curiosity. here in florida at both calder and gulfstream there are many areas of the track where you cannot hear the call of the race. there are no speakers placed. is it that way at your tracks?

What's with that at Calder? I noticed it too. You can hear something, but it stinks. I'd rather not hear it at all. And what the hell is up with the recording of the Nat'l Anthem at Calder??? I have 8-tracks that sound better.

If tracks didnt have dead areas can you imagine how hard it would be to lie to your girlfriend or family about where you were. Godbless the dead areas

robfla 06-26-2007 11:06 AM

at Calder the speaker system on the 4th floor has been dead since the meet started. Many people have complained to no avail.... they did, i think, put in a small speaker about 2 weeks ago. which is you listen real closely you can barely hear it.

i watch the races on the 4th floor outside balcony....
at 1 min to post I turn the TV up as loud as possible and listen to the TV sound while the race is running.

well@hawthorne these days for the harness meet nobody can hear anything inside becuz no1 is allowed in, gotta be lovely running a meet with no mutuel clerks becuz of a strike and no fans. there might be a 8-9 month tbred meet coming to arlington soon if hawthorne continues in the downward spiral its in. peter galassi may have to go back to callin harness races@balmoral

At Suffolk Downs you need to be in the right place in order to hear the race call. For me, the right visual place and audio place seem to be mutually exclusive so I go for the good view, use binoculars and watch the tote board for racing positions when I can't get a good view.

Exactly, my phone rings and I see it is my girlfriend, I run out the doors as quickly as I can to the place where I know there is no sound. Works good everytime and haven't been caught yet!:D

Why own a cell phone?? They suck. Why lie, get one that understands this is your life, take it or leave it.

What a relationship that must be! As a woman, frankly, I'd be "annoyed" that you'd gone without me!

And ya know, even at tracks in the places where you can hear the call, it's often too garbled (cheap speakers?) to be understood, anyway.

I have asked her PLENTY of times to go to the track with me, the only times she will go is if I take her to dinner there, which I have no problem with but sometimes I just go to gamble. I like to gamble, she hates to gamble. She knows I go to the track a lot, but when she is working if she doesn't ask where I am why should I tell her that I am at the track?? If she asked, I would tell her I'm at the track, but she don't ask I don't tell!

I'm 21, anyone know where I can find a good looking women who likes to spend a day at the track and have a good time??? :D

My wife is absolutely fine with me going to the track.

It's my work that I am hiding from. There's nothing worse than taking a work call between races thinking your safe and then up pops the "may I have your attention, we have a late scratch in the upcoming 5th race..." announcement. The call usually gets "mysteriously" dropped at that time.

LOL. I once went to a new track and got on a conference call. Little did I know they had speakers in the restroom. Loud ones. Live and learn.

oh man I've got burned on that a few times. answered the call quickly because everything seemed quiet, you know, to demonstrate that I was right on the job, next thing you know about one minute into the phone call you get a very loud "THEY'RE AT THE POST". Then I'm quickly dodging people to get outside.

or other times I was supposedly "working from home", and I get a work call. Its in between races so there is no sound and I start talking forgetting that I have the sound up very loud on the computer speakers. suddenly you can hear Trevor Denman "the horses, have now, reached the starting gate"
damn!
