La Vie en Rose

I'm kind of meh on the movie- oddly constructed and a bit confusing to someone who knew nothing about Edith Piaf prior to the film, but the lead actress was really good. And holy cow, could Piaf sing (the film uses her actual recordings). I don't know if I'd recommend the film but I'd sure recommend the soundtrack!

I actually sold my tickets for it when it was the opening night feature at the French Film Festival early in the year. Don't think I can bring myself to sit through it.

It's really long; I don't blame you. And if you don't know anything about her (as I didn't) it got a little confusing at points: "What? She had a kid? What?" But the lead actress was great. And of course, it provided a fine opportunity to play It's a Major French Film Therefore Gerard Dépardieu Will Be in It Somewhere, but Where?

He plays a nightclub owner.

The best foreign film I have seen in some time is Alatriste. Very worthwhile.
