I understand the argument that indiginous Alaskans should be allowed to hunt whales as part of their traditional way of life, but it still seems like an effin' shame that this great beast, which first roamed the oceans of the world when men went out in wooden sailing ships, and has had such an awe-inspiring life in terms of its longevity, should meet such a violent and brutal death.

That was interesting about the weapon, and I agree that the oldest should be left alone(like they do turtles) but I don't know that you can 'tag' a whale.

I agree completely... it is a shame.
