Farewell Ann Arbor

The title may sound like I am sad about it. I'm not.

I'm heading off to Chicago in the morning to get settled in before starting my new job with Pez on Monday morning, so tonight is officially the last night that I will live here. I'll be back to pick things up, but no more days spent in this job I hate, no more days spent with nothing to do -- and on the downside, no more of my favorite cheap sushi near my apartment.

So, much to the chagrin of many here, you may be without many of my usual witticisms and revealing insights for the better part of the next six weeks, as I won't have internet access where I will be staying.

Hey wait, I totally just ended this announcement with what was more or less a "this is my last post" post.

Though fear not, I will be back and with a vengeance on lunch hours after I am done training and then once I get into my new place at the end of July.

Effective substitutes for my witticisms can be located, in my absence, at Alternet, Shakesville, Pandagon, and Pam's House Blend.

And you know, I must be boastful before my imminent departure lest people forget about me!

I'm sure that outside of not being here as often, I will be much much happier in my new job, so I'm willing to trade it for a little bit.

ps -- totally joking, I don't read Alternet.

You definately had me worried there for a moment!

GPK 06-01-2007 03:15 PM

Good Luck B.

Don't get me wrong, the other three are on RSS feed on my Google Reader, but not Alternet.

And I have learned quite well here, that as long as I am still able to form my own thoughts, I am permitted to continue reading lefty blogs :D.

Hey Brian....

Congrats and good luck in Chicago. I've never been there myself, although the Cubs are my team, say hi to Wrigley Field for me! Take care, safe trip.

Good luck Brian, sounds very exciting!

You will love Chicago, it's a beautiful, vibrant city: the neighborhoods, the lake front, the arts, terrific small local restaurants - alot of personality. Da BEARS! And Wrigley, of course. Arlington, obviously! :)

Brian good luck in the Windy City...great town...steakhouses...the BULLS...the CUBS...DA BEARS! Make sure you hit Billy Goats joints(cheeseburger....cheeseburger..chips...no coke pepsi), made famous in the old SNL skits.

Posting this right before dismantling my computer. I'm more sad about internet access than I am about anything else.

I think that during the times I've lived in Chicago, I've never really appreciated it because I was always only staying there temporarily between moves to places like Portland which I liked better. I made myself a promise to appreciate what it has to offer more this time around -- I've already lined up a few concerts to go see, eyeing some places to perform to get back into making music, etc.

It's going to be a good one, even if means a sort of DT withdrawal for the next six weeks. I'll be doing more run & gun posting on lunch hours as opposed to actually having eight hours a day to surf and chat and respond endlessly during a less active but miserable job.

So thanks to all of you for getting me through what was by far the worst job of my life -- not sure how I would have done it without DT to help me through the last two-thirds of it.

On that note, I'll be in touch for sure, in better times and better moods.

Writing that made me feel like we're breaking up :D Don't worry, I'm come crawling back in due time!

You are a good man.
