When do you stop for the day???

Ok i was down $120 lost all 6 races i bet on but really liked drilling for oil in the main race at CD. Im not redboarding on this im really not anyway everything im touching turns to dung so i figure you know what i'll just stop now. Well you can guess what happened next. $14.60 to win. My ? is do you all just go all the way out and keep betting or after couple of bad races do you think i dont have it today??? Where is your stopping point?

hockey2315 05-26-2007 06:16 PM

Just set aside money for your key bets or bet them before you bet anything else. . .

midnight

Stop??

No such thing in my lingo, I fire until I am broke. I purposely leave my ATM at home to prevent ultimate tiltness

letswastemoney 05-26-2007 10:13 PM

when you have to tell your kids that they're eating those little 10 cent Ramen soup packets for dinner

whodey17 05-26-2007 10:22 PM

horse racing is 24/7/365 - no such things as stopping. Maybe you have to pause.....

eajinabi 05-26-2007 10:53 PM

The worst type of bettor is the one that trys to handicap the races 5 minutes before each race. Cap the races the day before and pinpoint some key horses you like and manage your bets around those key horses.

Another thing is dont bet everything and anything you see. Focus on 1-2 tracks only. You dont have to bet every race on these tracks either. That $120 you spent could have been used on several pick three or pick 4 tickets
around Drilling For Oil.

if you are afraid to play horses you really like, you probably should stop betting. Set a budget and play with confidence.

Hong Kong race 10

What track carries that feed Pillow, Im usually out after 5B in Australia

Seattleallstar 05-27-2007 09:25 AM

stopping point for me is when all cash is gone, and the max 300 from the ATm has been exhausted

Amen Scavs. It's the only way you can do that. Bring the $$$ you think you need going into the day, and leave the ATM card at home!

Eaj,
You can rip my style all you want, but I usually do pretty well. I've tried doing the night before handicapping, and it just doesn't work for me. For you to say there's only 1 style that works, you've obviously haven't met me lol.

With that being said, I try to give myself more than 5 minutes, but I won't dive into a race with more than 10. I will dive into a race with as little as 2 minutes to go as well. Here's why: In a wide open affair where you're deciding between many horses, YOU'RE FORCED TO MAKE A CHOICE AND NOT SECOND GUESS YOURSELF.

Now I will admit, there are times when I've looked over info I should've seen that would've helped me pick the right winner. When forced to make a choice, I've picked the wrong horse, but you can do that with anytime remining before post. I have a style that works, and it's just as well as yours.

1 last thing- I rarely play pick 3s, 4s, and 6s, so it's probably why my style works. I'm more of a WP, Exacta, and Tri bettor.

Seattle, that means you would be done after the first race at Monticello

whorstman 05-27-2007 04:36 PM

I have capped the night before or hours in advance and have done well and lost my a$$. Yesterday, I just went out there and bought a stats sheet and put together exacta bets and hit 4/5 races capping on the fly. It can work both ways, you need a little luck 4 sure.

Amen to that. Whatever method works for the individual, more power to them. Both ways work well.

There's always "9" more races the next day...

I only take my ATM card that way I have the limit
I am done when the races are. I really hate when I hit early then slowly and surely give it all back
too many races.. etc

I love every second of it. For me it's all about the action
trying to figure out the next puzzle. One time I was confronted by a true gambler a guy that bets with both fists maybe once, if that, or twice a day. because I hit a turf race trifecta with a long shot then hit another tri of first time starters... I just told him that I key on breeding, workouts and if I get that far -pace. teasing a little

to answer the question I quit when the money or races run out.
or when it's time to go and see Sumwon after a race:D

Danzig 05-27-2007 08:54 PM

that guy i watched rocking a tote machine yesterday needed to quit!!

2MinsToPost 05-27-2007 08:58 PM

Its simple - take money that you can easily afford to lose. Play to your hearts content. If you double your money and are sober lol, tuck that half back and let er eat.

No matter what, if you only take what you can easily afford to lose it does not sting near as much.
