Churchill 8th

Anybody that has looked at the race have any opinion? Yate's Black Cat could be tough 2nd off layoff, but others in here also look tough. Any thoughts?

brianwspencer 05-24-2007 09:51 AM

Yate's Black Cat certainly looks like the one.

Though I've been in the past, hesitant to toss Act of God out of any wagers I've made.

If Canela runs (MTO) I would say he is my top pick (one nut and all, lol). Your choice does seem to be the obvious one. If you are feeling "spirit" then maybe Act of God/His Holiness exacta.....

tiznowthegreat 05-24-2007 10:59 AM

Well those responses were definitely helpful as Act of God was the one I was thinking of throwing in. There looks like a fair amount of early speed so it might set up fairly well for these two. Anybody that knows more about breeding than me (which should be just about everybody) have any opinions on how Pletcher's will take to the weeds?

I agree, if Canela runs I'm gonna hammer him and a straight exacta Canela/Yates.

Canela is now scratched...
Even if it was off the turf and he wasn't, there was about a 0% chance Yate's was running on the dirt.

His Holiness has monster turf breeding....and it's all hidden. I'm hoping he can repeat.

I think the breeding is irrelevant now, he has shown what he can do. I don't think it will be good enough today.

I'll go with Act of God, who looks to have a perfect set up in this race.

Nice call, nice price.

The Indomitable DrugS 05-24-2007 03:54 PM

Thanks CJ.

Too bad about last time.....I deserved what I got last time he ran.

Nice call. Looked pretty good, thought Yate's would get to him but he kicked home nicely.

I suppose you are thinking that Holy Bull doesn't shout TURF, but he's sired plenty of good turf runners and many of us are aware of it. And the damsire Kris S. screams TURF in spades - that's not very hidden. Only thing that most people won't know is that the dam is a half-sister to the REAL Derby winner Benny the Dip and 2 other group/graded winners on turf.

nice call

Good call.

Never got to see the race.....what happened to the Pletcher horse? Didn't even show speed? I didn't know if he could win but I'd have thought he would be clear going into the far turn.

I actually believe he was last going down the backstretch. He was never in it at any point.

His dam is also a half sister to the dam of Silence Suzuka---who was probably the greatest front-running turf horse of the 90's beyond the distance of one-mile---and would have buried Benny The Dip at any distance.

I have seen the replays of Silence Suzuka. That thing was a running fool. I reckon he would have buried Benny The Dip as well.
