10 cent supers
 

Anyone play these and find any value in playing them. They are now available at Churchill and you can box 4 horses for only $2.40. It seems like a good action bet but does anyone make money playing supers?

I play them all the time, I think they're great, especially in big pools like Keeneland or Churchill. At this last Keeneland meet I had 2-3 IRS tickets based on 10cent plays. For example 10 cent payouts on the order of $600-$1,000. If you can find some live longshots it gives you a better chance at getting a good payoff because you can play a reasonable amount of combinations. It makes it much more affordable than a $1 minimum play.

I approve. Playing $15 tickets can/should get a couple hits each card. Highest I've hit was for a couple hundred. It's just a matter of time before we land a whopper, Baba.

The irs ones are the exception, I just mentioned it to demonstrate why I like them. You do have to be careful and make sure you don't play too many combinations and hit it only to break even, or lose money. I've seen people do that. But in that regard its the same as any other bet.

On opening day (5/4) at Arlington, I bet $2 to win on 4 horses in the 9th; I was saving my big money for May 5. All four came in at win, place, show and 4th. Had I bet a .10 super box, I would have won $3527 and an IRS form to fill out. Instead, I won $19.80.

From my point of view, I should have risked the $2.40. Would'a, could'a, should'a. That's my lot in life. :)

Its funny you should mention that. I noticed on opening day at Arlington that the majority of the supers paid out more than it cost to box the whole field.
Actually that is fairly common at Arl. People just play them without any imagination, favorite first, second and third betting choices boxed second and third, etc.

A friend who frequents Arlington and Trackside regularly does ten-centers all the time. She does .10 quick picks (which always put the favorite first or second) and ends up with a 4 inch stack of tickets. Wins maybe once in a month's worth of tickets. She does, however, put some thought into her boxed .50 tri's and wins frequently, and decent money for the amount she spends.

One of the best bets in racing. Particularly in 7-8 horse fields where you have a false favorite and go all on the bottom. Any price in the top 3 and the ticket can return a nice payout. I play a lot of a,b,c/a,b,c,d/a,b,c,d,e,f/a,b,c,d,e,f,g tickets for $14.40. Try to get a price on top. Best payout on a dime was $1154 -- have had a lot in the $300-$500 range also. They can turn a tough day around.

Tickets can get expensive as fields increase though. Some 12 horse fields can turn what seems like a sure winner into a loser when a throwout fills that 4th position.

They may improve handicapping skills too. They force a player to look at race profiles and trips.

Great bet. Wish all tracks had them along with the $0.50 tris and P4s.

i love'm also !i usually only play them $2.40. i hit 4 last summer at colonial they paid between $100-200. i don't think thats to bad for $2.40.
i think 3 were 8 horse fields the other was 12.

The AVERAGE .10 cent super at the keenland meet paid like $600 bucks I remember reading the article somewhere and was astonished at that. I know it was over $600 bucks because I thought to myself thats an IRS ticket.

The derby .10 cent super would have been $2,900.00 this year with the co favorites running 1st and 3rd

I have had 3 sighners in the last year but I play some of them up $25 range and use the all button on at least 1 line and sometimes 2 lines . I have cashed a bunch that lost money tho. I will even box up to seven if it looks like a nice pay with th right order. I probably look at it wrong but I feel you need to expose yourself to have a chance for the big one. The best I have done is to use a .80 voucher and hit a $300+ payoff. Most all of my signers have come with atleast $10 ticket.Using the all button in the right hole is the key and all to often I get a 2/1 with it.
