Monmouth Park Survival at the shore starts today. Don't forget to make you picks!

The only good news I've had this week: out of 2500 contestants still alive, I'm only $2 out of the top 8 (they don't list further than that, so I don't know exactly where I stand).

Hey, it's better than nothing:rolleyes:

MaTH716 05-28-2007 07:07 PM

Just wait and see how many start dropping, when they forget to put their bets in for the first week of weekday racing.

Nice going so far. Still a long way to go but you're in the running for the weekly prize.

I used:

Stretchin' North 4
Truer Than True 7
Disastrous Storm 8

brianwspencer 06-01-2007 03:23 PM

Yep, already forgot about it!

jman5581 06-01-2007 03:25 PM

Well, I was going for prices... so I barely survived with a 2nd in the 4th race... congrats BWS, you are a man of your word.

I was actually thinking about it a whole lot, but that site is blocked at my work so I could never make picks at work and would forget by the time I got home.

Oh well, it happens every time!

golfer 06-03-2007 04:22 PM

I was in 143rd place entering today, barely hanging in on Friday (only got a third place horse). Swept all 3 today.

mes5107 06-03-2007 06:32 PM

978th after today, but still alive! I like this contest. You have to pick your spots to go for a price. They've done a pretty good job selecting wide open races. I thought it might have been over for me on Friday as well, but More than a Feelin saved me.

golfer 06-03-2007 06:41 PM

I moved up to #11 overall, after a 3-3 $69 day. I think I'm starting to feel the pressure:eek:

jman5581 06-03-2007 08:33 PM

I'm in 307. I like this contest... more to it than just staying alive.

Early nods for tomorrow

5th...Ambling Rose 4-1 Pams Girl 7-2
8th Hopes and Dreams 5-2 Regina Madre 9-2
9th Primo Nova 5-2 Rymar 8-1

May Take Rymar as my "Money" pick of the day...

Usually pick the likely two winners and play one with odds... The only way to win this thing is to pull a few big money horses to boost the bankroll and use the chalk to keep you in the game...

MaTH716 06-05-2007 02:16 PM

Becareful with making picks early. There was alot of heavy rain here Sunday night and most of all day Monday. They would have been off the old turf couse for a week. The new course takes the water much better, but they might be in baby the turf course mode because of the Breeders Cup. It sucks making picks for the turf and they end up off it and you end up with the post time favorite. I expect to get knocked out, but I want it to be with horses I like.

I will hesitantly release my picks for tomorrow:rolleyes: , which I have made foolishly early. I actually haven't "handicapped" since the opening of the contest. I have used my superb knowledge of Monmouth's trainers and jockeys, as well as my library-like memory of Monmouth's horses ( ah, screw it, nobody believes this crap, would ya believe dumb luck:) ).
Race 5: Sister Silver, only because of Perkins.
Race 8: Hopes and Dreams, due to the red-hot Stanley Hough.
Race 9: Dixie Two Thousand, due to the red-hot Scott Volk.
Hopefully, one of these horses will hit the board, so I can continue the "quest".

Hah!! Still alive, a place, a win, and a scratch... not much money, but live to pick another day. Moved up 1 spot to 10th place.

swedejxn 06-06-2007 08:48 PM

staying alive is what it's all about bro.... hit a shot here and there and you will win the dang thing.... keep up the good pickin

golfer 06-08-2007 06:36 PM

6-8-07... Still Alive! dropped from 10 to 17 yesterday, back to #11 today.

MaTH716 06-08-2007 08:53 PM

Lost alot of people today. All three favorites off the board!
