Oh Lord...she really is trying to ruin that horse!

The Indomitable DrugS 05-07-2007 04:59 AM

Has Curlin been confirmed? I sure hope he goes.

What about Chelokee, I thought he'd be a likely Preakness starter.

2 weeks rest .......Haven't we been here before???? Especially in these times of fewer races longer layoffs.

Aren't we setting up the same players and more with a different result because the Derby takes out a heavy price on the prime of a horse!!!

Street Sense doesn't win round two!!! though I am very grateful for 7-8/8-7 I have been touting for the derby for a week......

I just don't see this happening again in Baltimore!!!!

Sedgefield and Teuflesberg? The Derby proved that neither of these horses have the class to win a Triple Crown race. It's a shame that their owners are unwilling to accept this.

robfla 05-07-2007 06:24 AM

i thought sedgefield ran a very game race. attended the early pace and was still around at the end.

The Bid 05-07-2007 07:20 AM

Sedgefield got a real good ride, and ran a big race.

Sedgefield ran a very good race in the Derby. He was my pick to finish last for the race, but as robfla mentioned, most of the horses that were near the ealy pace fell apart. He did not. That isn't too shabby for his dirt debut!
Of the horses in the top six, Street Sense was 19th at the first call. Curlin was 13th. Imawildandcrazyguy was 20th. Circular Quay was 17th.
The only two horses that were on or near the lead that hung around to finish nicely were Hard Spun and Sedgefield.
Do I think he will win the Preakness? No. But sending him to this race is far less crazy on paper then sending him to the Derby was.
Sending Teuflesberg on the other hand.....makes no sense at all.

I have no problem with Sedgefield running in the Preakness. Like has been said he ran a game 5th and was not hitting the wall when everyone else did.

Horse already proved he can run the turf and poly. So might as well take a chance at a nice purse

Slew's Tizzy is passing the Preakness for the Lone Star Derby.....the story is up on the DRF website.

sumitas 05-07-2007 04:06 PM

Absolutely. We're looking at a $40 tri here; if that ...:)

The only threat to the top 3 finishers in the Preakness

Zippy Chippy 05-07-2007 07:33 PM

I have to admit that I was wrong. I went back and watched the race again, and you guys were right-- Sedgefield ran a surprisingly strong race. He was game all the way up to the stretch, and he didn't fall apart after sticking with the pace the whole way. The question for him now is can he recover off that performance in two weeks and still be a factor at Pimlico?

Danzig 05-07-2007 08:08 PM

room for improvement imo. certainly less crowded, he handled it rather well, more so than many of his supposed betters.

AeWingnut 05-07-2007 08:55 PM

I'd skip the Preakness and run Sedgefield in the Belmont. I kinda wonder if Sedgefield benefitted from the rail.

Teuflesberg needs a break from Grade 1 monster route races but hey we all need someone to toss.

I look forward to Chelokee. Hopefully he won't disappoint like the other Gulfstream horses. Did CP West ever win tha allowance race:p

nomad 05-08-2007 12:49 AM

I think King of the Roxy is a threat.

BTW We need Preakness tickets. I posted somewhere on this forum, God knows where. I'm not used to negotiating this site. Anyway, I'll be in MD & want at least 2 tickets.

nomad 05-08-2007 12:51 AM

Why does it say Sam Houston under my handle now?
