I'm Here To Eat My Crow!!

Here I am....LOL....Well here's what I think. I think Hard Spun ran the best race contending a demanding 46 half and still finishing and actually gaining at the end.

That being said, Street Sense blew up a number of angles and I'm happy about that. Obviously the Juvy wasn't a fluke and he won his Grade 1 so I was wrong when I made my call back in November. I will continue to stick my neck out based on the numbers I see and the history I see. But congrats to Street Sense and those that backed him. And I will root for him to win the Triple Crown.

Now, to all the people who wanted my sanity checked for liking Sedgefield to hit the board, he missed third by all of 1 length while beating every Pletcher horse and the weak Grade 1 winners of Dominican, Tiago, and NoBiz. So maybe I wasn't crazy after all....And the opening round of drinks for the group at the Spa this summer will be sponsored by Scavs. Did Zanjero finish yet? LOL

You were wrong about Street Sense, but you are right that Hard Spun ran an incredible race.

Sedgefield also ran huge. Also how good was Curlin? Not bad for his fourth start.

Street Sense was the most obvious winner to me, but since this is the CROW thread i should mention that in my quest for big odds I was trying to get Domincan into the trifecta, sadly he didn't get there. No thanks to Great Hunter who leaned on him almost the entire race, and cut him off entering the turn. If that didn't happen he might have had a shot at third.

Also, what about Imawildandcrazyguy. Anyone see where he came from?
Holy smokes, it looks like he passed 17 horses in the stretch.

I think he did... he looked like he was closing like a freight train.

Cajun, according to Scavs he "felt bad about making the bet." So I offered to double it. Would've gone to 5 bills on it.....And boy if I was still offshore and they offered Sedge vs. Dominican, I can't tell you what I would've bet.

Glad to see him run well for you, Randall and very glad that I didn't make that bet with you, as I would have lost. I already owe antitrust a 12 pack of beer for Curlin finishing WAY in front of Scat Daddy.

It appears that the Lane's End was a legit prep.

I don't expect a resonse Randall...not much to say other than I'm munching crow also.
It was a great race. Borel rode that one like I've not seen in a long time.
I hope he comes out of the race ok cause we might be looking at a a TC winner...and it's been a long long time.
Anyway, as Chris F said so many times..."Lodey freakin' da". (RIP Chris)
So now...."back to my van down by the river".
Randall, you and I aren't the only ones with tickets on the floor.
Pass the bird, and watch out for those danged black feathers...coming to a YUM nearby...very soon (after they figure how to serve up ratz).

You got lucky as hell because Price Tag would have smoked that Pletcher rat, yet another horse that cost me money today, I did have Sky Conqueror pretty hard and the derby exacta twice but it didn't matter at the end of the day. I hate horse racing

As for Sedgefield, he ran well

Tommy, Yes I would have lost that other 1....But come on, Sedge beat 15 horses and missed 3rd by a length.

Wonder how long until Kev has a Sedgefield license plate? :D

Nakatani hurt more than Dominican. He hurt himself and some others. I have rewatched parts and Nakatani makes a great effort to get closer to the inside and once he is close and has an opening he goes outside around the 1st turn. But Great Hunter was pressed against other horseflesh from almost every little piece I can see him in.

I thought Sedgefield was a joke and he ran well.

The only portion of your post that I disagree with was that Hard Spun ran the better race. I thought he ran a hell of a race, seriously, but Street Sense ran an even bigger race. He had a great trip but he was 19th at one call, and charging for the leaders at the next call.

Great call though on Sedgefield -- I thought he'd have a rough go of it and ran an absolutely huge one.

And too bad we never cemented the stakes for the Storm vs. Daddy bet too, huh?

You'd be owing people all over about now!

Bri, I wasn't saying that to take away from Street Sense. I couldn't have been more wrong on him. But Hard Spun was awesome in here....Street Sense was equally as good and got the trip and was the best. No excuse from Hard Spun, I just was most impressed with his race.

Oh me too, I was very very impressed by Hard Spun today, just saying that I disagreed that he ran the best race.

You're being very gracious about a position you took that more or less reviled by everyone, so good for you on that!

The overhead shot on the turn tells the whole story. Sense was like a freight train and the hole opened up for him and that was the end of the story right there.

Not gracious, I deserve a lot of **** for it. Hell, I said he wouldn't make the Derby back in Nov, let alone win a Grade 1 the rest of his life....All he does is go out and win the biggest race in the world. I deserve it. You make calls, you deal with it.....Bet Sedge to show and Hard Spun to win. I have nothing to really be that happy about....But I want to see a Triple Crown winner and would be thrilled if a guy as nice as Nafzger is able to pull it off.

Scurlogue Champ 05-05-2007 08:39 PM

I am officially eating a lot of crow..

CQ just wasn't there for me.

Great race by Hard Spun and SS
