I couldn't tell. He's probably a great poker player.

i agree about asman--no way i could ever pull for him. EVER. for pletcher, that's gotta be a tremendously bitter and hard pill to swallow.

I fear neither of these two trainers really understands the conditioning that a Derby horse needs. Not the speed training - that's what gets horses the first 9f - but the conditioning that takes it another furlong while still running strongly enough to compete.

Pletcher seriously looked like he had just sucked on a lemon:)

The Barbaro path +3 was incorrect for his favorite.
Although Hard Spun had a good time off. He would have won that race easily had the rail closed.

ONe does get the feeling Borel might be able to do what he wishes with SS. But I think we might see a number of horses entered barring injury. They will see a very good horse with an easy trip. The turn of foot was very impressive though.

Danzig 05-05-2007 06:15 PM

it was meant to be i suppose. street sense is a good horse--a lesser horse might have had the rail open--but wouldn't be able to benefit from it. he was a deserving winner, and looked very good. better to be lucky than good, but street sense was both today.

Pletcher and Zito are going out to dinner tonight.

Ped Anne,
You nailed it!
This race is like no other. No short cuts, no faking.
My guess is that Todd learned something from a pro today.

This is arguably the best derby ever. After watching Pletcher win what seemed like every race at Gulfstream, it is refreshing to see that robot come to Kentucky and get worked.

This is my state, assholeface!! When you come here you've gotta show some emotion to get those roses. Ain't that right, Calvin?

fpsoxfan 05-05-2007 07:42 PM

He will win someday and it will be sweet

That's a safe prediction. I'm saying he won't.

The tears rolling down his eyes was the best moment of the whole Derby, for me. Bo-rail is an absolute MONEY rider at CD and he wanted this so bad!

Thrilled for Calvin. What a great year for him. He has balls to go for the rail all the time....Then there is Albarado who would rather be in a Hummer turning for home than a horse.

I liked him pointing at the horse the whole way around like he did it, he did it... Calvin you had a big role in that great run.
