Wagering Definitions
 

People,

I am from Brazil, and here there is no official gambling. And I also dont know any local online gambling website

So, I am basically with 2 problems:

- Firts, I don´t understand some wagering deffinitions like: if bets, rollover, money line, parlays, spread, etc.

- Second, I don´t understand the pricing system (In a soccer match, for instance: +1/2 1.1570....this means greek to me) and horse racing princing systems. So, I cannot measure my spents when doing a bet nor my return when I win some wagering.

Can anybody tell me a good internet resource where I cand read about this and understand all these terms and calculus?

I will begin by saying you should not wager a dime until you learn the lingo. Go to any library and pick-up a book on sports gambling. But learn the lingo before wagering.

You don't need to know EVERY kind of bet. Forget about "if bets" and parlays. Here are a few useful definitions:

Rollover:
This refers to how much you have to bet in order to keep the bonus you get from depositing. A "3 x deposit rollover" would mean that you have to make bets totalling 3 times your initial deposit (if you want to keep the bonus they give you.)

Moneyline:
A moneyline of +126 means you would risk $10 to win $12.60.
A moneyline of -136 means you would have to risk $13.60 for every $10 you want to win.

Spread:
A spread of +1.5 means you are getting an extra 1.5 points added to your team's score.
A spread of -1.5 means you are subtracting 1.5 points from your team's score.

If you see +1.5 -136, it means you are betting $13.60 to win $10, and you will win your bet unless your team loses by more than 1 point.

If you see -1.5 +126, it means you are betting $10 to win $12.60, and you will win your bet ONLY IF your team wins by more than 1 point.

Soccer is particularly confusing, because some lines include the tie possibility and others don't. It's not always obvious what's going on. Be sure you carefully read the "soccer rules" before betting.

While I agree that most sports parlays aren't worth knowing about, you get true odds on baseball or other moneyline parlays, so I think they are useful when playing heavy chalk.

I also read some definitions on BetWWTS...they explain a lot of things, I recommend it.

Agree, TG. I wasn't making a value judgement on those other kinds of bets. I was just recommending a "keep it simple" approach to start with.

i'm still learning so this helped me greatly!

Go to Turfpedia.com..I think James Quinn is involved over there. Lots of good, basic information that will get you started in the right direction.
