Xchanger--Derby Fever is Rampant

As a Marylander, I hate reporting this:

"The connections of Maryland-based Xchanger continue to point the Federico Tesio Stakes winner toward Saturday’s Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).

On Monday, April 30, co-owner Dominic Zannini told the Churchill Downs Kentucky Derby notes team that the Exchange Rate colt would likely be sent to the Louisville track with designs on running in the Derby.

“Nothing's 100%, and I am not committing to anyone but I like the way things are shaping up,” Zannini said. “We are preparing for it like we’re coming. The best case scenario is we’ll be there.”

LMAO

yeah, best case for anyone looking for a horse to toss, narrow down the field a bit.

Translation, its a foregone conclusion, they're running.

The connections are fairly confident they can handle Storm in May.

Oh sure but what about Bwana Bull or TBerg? He'll have a heck of a race with those two.

If they aren't careful Cowtown Cat's position at 16th could be in jeopardy.

Why does it matter that he's in Maryland? It's not like he didn't race in Oaklawn the previous few races. I'm sure Arkansans share in the grief of Marylanders at this decision.

Now you're getting carried away.
Nothing could jeopardize that.

Scav 04-30-2007 05:00 PM

If I had a horse that would qualify for the Derby, you better believe I would run, don't care about the chance, it is the experience. I would just want the horse to come back healthy and would instruct the jock that if he had zero chance to hit the board to just wrap him up, any fines would be paid by me

I think we need TWO bold predictions from you on this weeks show, how about a dress if Cowtown finishs higher then 10th and something else crazy?

Antitrust32 04-30-2007 05:07 PM

Please dont make Serling wear a dress... How about he has to wear a Cowtown Cat cap on the youbet show if he finishes in the top 4.

That is too easy for him to take, the top 10 is a great feature because he will be fading.

How about a cow COSTUME on the Preakness show, that would be awesome....

ok.. i like the cow costume idea a lot. The dress just seemed a little traumatic.

He ran pretty good at 9 furlongs at pimlico, I wouldn't really have expected the horse to love added distance. Doesn't look like derby material.

Because Andy is the only one of us that is on Internet TV! Scavs can wear a dress if he wants but unless he puts on a webcam show it will be meaningless!

If you make every stand a " dunce cap " type position you take the fun out of it. I will be wrong more often than I am right, but just as I don't expect accolades every time I am right, I certainly don't need to be made a fool ( or make one of myself ) every time I am wrong.

The simple fact is that people who waste money on the likes of Cowtown Cat in this Derby are foolish. They will lose their money ( just as I would in the cataclysmic event that Cowtown Cat even runs moderately well ) which is enough. Further humiliation isn't always necessary.

I wore the dunce cap once at Siro's last summer after declaring five or six times that if some big favorite won I would wear it the next day. Should I REALLY have had to wear it that one time?

JDank34 04-30-2007 06:00 PM

it seems to me a pretty certain point that XC will be sold the way they are talking. maybe even a large share in him will be sold. i'm certainly not in the loop with these connections, but it just seems that way to me.

but it is Cowtown Cat, while I agree that you should not wear the dunce cap anytime you do not like a horse and it wins, Cowtown is the horse that made you wear the Dunce last out... and you are still bashing him!!!

just like Cajun and Curlin, if Curlin wins Cajun must do something... maybe get a Curlin cap and make it her Avatar!
