OT: Good For Buffet
 

I think it so important in life to give back to others. Every day I'm teaching I'm considering this.

Buffet today giving 31 billion in wealth to charity is the way it should be done. Not only is he giving money to education, which I obviously feel strongly about, but also to world health.

You can't take money with you and I've told my parents to enjoy themselves and give whatever you want to me or charity. I wish more people, especially those with considerable wealth, chose the route that Buffet is taking. I have so much respect for Gates, Buffet, and the rest who are doing this. Maybe it starts a domino effect.

And I can just hear the conversation now...

Randall- "Mom and Dad, give me your money, you cant take it with you. Let me gamble with it."

Mom and Dad- "Okay son, just dont get overboard."

Randall- "Thanks, I love the card at Belmont today."

And no I would not gamble any inheritance. And for the past 6 or 7 years I have been clear to both of them to enjoy themselves and spend every penny they have or give it to wherever they want. I wouldn't feel badly at all if I got absolutely nothing.

I love buffet. I actually own some Berkshire Hathaway B. He is actually a distant cousin to Jimmy Buffet too. He is basically giving a ton of his cash to Bill Gates and his foundation. Gates and Buffet are the rare great businessmen that are good people, unlike the Rockefeller or Kennedy types that screwed people and then gave a few dollars of what they took from people back.

The son of the guy who married Anna Nicole Smith, died this week. He was the one contesting the will. Amazing, but he was the son of her husband. She might sound stupid, but she is smarter than all of us.

Kidding Randall, I know you wouldnt gamble that. Personally I think its the person's choice what to do with their own money. When I croak, my wife gets everything and I dont care what she does with it. I'll be horse food for some 10K claimer, what do I care?

Guy is a great man. Brilliant and giving.
He even has a horse named after him(his legendary nickname) who won in NY last month. Oracle of omaha. That horse is a maiden claimer, but the man he is named after is a grade one indivual.

Gander, you would love the guy, he loves Ice Cream, Candy, and Cherry Coke. When he was younger, he would go to the track with his dad and look for discarded winning tickets...

I dont like Cherry Coke, but I was so depressed yesterday I sat home and ate ice cream and chocolate chip cookies all afternoon.

Who is Warren Buffet? You cant be serious. He owns Berhshire Hathaway. He is only the 2nd richest man in the world.

This is a very nice gesture by Buffet and he has given millions to charities in the past. However, you have to read behind the lines. He is getting ready to announce a successor to his company and he is getting ready to move his assets in case of his demise. In the letter Buffet wrote to Bill and Melinda Gates, he wants all the money distributed in the year in which he donates and not added to the foundation's assets for future giving.

When I hear "Buffet", I think of the all you can eat kind. Not the guy who owns Oracle of Omaha.

Buffet is the Oracle of Omaha. BH is the company. The big guys play in Berkshire Hathaway A, us little guys own some BH B. BH A is actually $90,000 a share.

Not sure if you are joking, but Bershire Hathaway is the name of his company and Oracle of Omaha was the horses name. If you were joking (which I think you are) it is pretty funny.

I can remember when BH A was $122k per share.

Does Ken Nesky still train Berskhire Cat, Berkshire Princess and Berkshire Highway?

Tim he doesnt own Oracle of Ohama, Klaravich does. They name all their horses after financial market terms or market related things.
As far as I know he never owned any horses either.

I can feel any sympathy for anyone that owns it. They are all retired millionaires. There are some great stories about working class people buying in when he started and now are loaded. Too bad I didn't grow up next to a guy like that.
