I think it is a dumb move. His loafing isn't going to work for the Pats and I think his 4.2 speed is now closer to 4.4 which makes all the difference when he runs lazy patterns. Plus Brady is the king of the dink and dunk passing game and really isn't that great of a deep passer nor is he the type to just throw up jump balls deep to keep Moss happy. We'll see but I have a feeling it isn't going to work. I guess for the price of a 4th round pick though they could just cut him midseason if it isn't working out.

Pats are sure going against the tide, they picked that kid in the draft who had several character "red flags" and the commentators seemed to think the "Patriot way" would control him...now Moss. I know they have strong vet leadership and a proven record of winning but I think a few rotten apples could ruin even their barrel...time will tell, certainly they have been active.

Don't sell Coach Bill short on his ability to take a malcontent and get the most out him. Moss has got to be thinking to himself that if he doesn't want to be in the discussion for the greatest waste of talent ever that he better get himself on board with a quarterback.

This whole deal is about making amends with Brady for forcing him to make due without real recievers over the last couple years. The Dion Branch miscue cost them dearly.

If it doesn't work out they are out a middle round pick. I am glad they took a chance. Ask the Colts if the reciever upgrades amke the Pats more competitive this year. Sufice to say Moss is the best player on the board with the Patriots pick in the fourth round.

I'm not sure Moss's skills have deteriorated that much, he played with Culpepper who could stand on the edge of the beach and miss the ocean with a pass and then with horrible QB's in Oakland...nobody can catch a pass if it isn't thrown to them...what was that stat? Oakland had like 7 Td passes last year with 70+ sacks? Moss can still be an all-star WR, the question is will he behave? The vets on the Pats simply will not tolerate his loafing, I can see Brady going crazy the first time he doesn't complete a pattern. If he's a good citizen, this is a great pickup for the Pats and, like others have said, if he doesn't...well, this should be a wakeup even for him...a 4th round pick?? Still, the Pats have to be careful...chemistry is something that can disappear quickly!

wow, with moss being able to stretch a defense the great tom brady will be unbeatable........ he has 2 fine recievers now, had a bunch of sleds in the past:eek:

I think Moss's attitude and work ethic can be considered a throwout now. It's amazing what the winning and it's opportunities will do for someone's behavior. Moss is one of the most gifted receivers ever to play and the fact that he is now playing for Patriots will rejuvenate those skills and he will again be a beast. Brady has to be doing cartwheels about now.

Patriots are scary good now...bottomline

King Glorious 04-29-2007 01:50 PM

They should now be the clear favorites to win the Super Bowl.

this is a low downside high upside trade for the pats. they can cut him before camp and all they gave up was a 4th round pick. he isn't as good as he was earlier in his career but so what? he has no injury issues. this is like claiming a healthy former stakes winner for $25,000. he doesn't even have to be randy moss for this to be a good trade. getting a serviceable veteran wr for a 4th round pick is a steal. any value moss brings above that next season is cream.

anyone knocking the pats side of this trade has no clue.

never cared for moss' attitude. as to how good he is, hard to say with the qb situation he's been in lately. but he picked a heck of a time to bail, with russell coming in--god knows, even tho untried, he's got to be a huge improvement over brooks!

Bigsmc 04-29-2007 05:22 PM

His attitude will not be a problem.

Remember Corey Dillon was a malcontent before going to NE and suddenly he is a model citizen.

Moss will be a fine addition, a fourth round pick for him is a steal, no matter how much his skills have eroded (which I don't think is much).

I think 105 touchdown receptions automatically elimates any talk of the greatest waste of talent ever. I saw Moss last year against the Ravens what I saw was a WR running patterns with effort and desire but the Raiders could'nt keep the QB upright long enough to get him the ball, Randy Moss will shine with the Pats and return to his old glory as one of the best WR in the game!
