Horses on Classic

Does anyone know if ESPN Classic will be airing any Sports Centuries like they did last year with Slew and Secretariat?

Or any other shows for that matter?

Unfortunately nothing showing up for ESPN Classic yet.

I wonder how the media is going to try to hype the derby to the masses this year. They usually attach to a few sentimental stories, hype horses, etc.
Like last year one of the stories was Dan Hendricks and Brother Derek.

I'm not sure there are any heart-tugging or sensational stories to latch on to this year. Of course Pletchers many starters will get a lot of coverage I suppose.

I know there is a show on this afternoon on NBC at 5 Eastern about Barbaro. Other than that, I haven't heard anything outside of normal programming.

Thanks...that helps a lot. I'd like to see more shows on Sports Century.

Are you kidding. If it's not the "3 sports" they'll just show the best of bowling and poker. I guess we should be lucky they show a race every month or so on ESPN NEWS. No matter what you think of TVG or HRTV, at least they show the races.

Whatever happened to the Ruffian movie ESPN was doing?

Agreed. To ESPN horse racing might as well be curling.

it ranks just below replays of snowboarding, or last years Little League World Series.

It really is amazing. They just had the 1987 Greater Buffalo Bowing tournament on. Now that is followed by 7 hours of poker. Yes, 7 HOURS OF POKER. Less than a week away from the greatest 2 minutes in sports, and what do they show? Unbelievable. I guess to many people horse racing is not a sport.

I disagree. ESPN is big on cross promotion. They were hyping the Breeders Cup during football telecasts. It's not the top three but they do more promotion and references than NBC. Plus no Bob Costas is always good for the genuine aspect.
