Talamo's age?

anyone know?

He is pretty serious

blackthroatedwind 04-28-2007 12:23 AM

Is this a trick question?

Scav 04-28-2007 12:37 AM

no, I have no idea how old he is, I am just curious and being lazy.....

blackthroatedwind 04-28-2007 12:41 AM

I feel like I read he was 17 but I could easily be wrong.

jman5581 04-28-2007 01:04 AM

too young for the draft.

hockey2315 04-28-2007 01:46 AM

His ride in the 7th was perfect. . .

He turned 17 in lateJanuary. He is a great kid with a wonderful family supporting him. When he won the Top Jock at the Fairgrounds the whole family was there, mom, dad Aunties, Uncles.
He is quite the gentleman and VERY fan friendly. Just a local boy from Marrero, NOLA suburb. We are all following him from the FG and he promises he will be back on Thanksgiving. He is just a phenomenom, such talent. I watched that race too, just amazing, but we watched him race that way from the first race at the reopening of the Fairgrounds.

Alot of Bug boys are good with the weight adg. However, I think he will be like Jul. Lep. and make a smooth transition esp. if Frankel sticks with him.

FGFan 04-28-2007 01:21 PM

I would like to think he will make the transition and be able to stay on the right path, he's sooo young. He has a solid family, backed with great trainers and owners. Some of the jocks at the Fairgrounds were really trying to show him by their own examples how to stay on the right path and what it cost them when they messed up. They, the jocks, know how good he can be.
On the other hand there are some just routing for him to mess up. One owner was in the Paddock kind of puffed up that day, and made a statement to the effect that he won't do so good once at AQ, his friend asked why and he said oh they will drop him etc, etc. I said nothing and listened, I'm a big JT fan. Anyway he went on to win at SA, then AQ and now Hollywood. BTW that owners horse never hit the board. I was glad although I liked the horse.

Hard to believe he only rode his first mount last year at LA Downs. I only wish him the best and all our jockey colony, trainers and owners that came back after Katrina, it was a tough year for them in NOLA, and we the fans appreciate them.

I'll bet he was riding the bush tracks in LA for several years before that. All those Luziana jocks get started that way.

Actually no, although most here do get started that way. Joe was an excersise rider, and worked in the barns for Connie Tassitaro and a few others. Rode his first race ever at LA Downs.

Whoops sorry I double quoted that. Watching CD on the website, and following TVG...

Pedigree Ann 04-28-2007 02:39 PM

I have to keep switching between two channels - TVG and HRTV - in a timely fashion. And I'm watching Brazilian races streaming. Are we sick, or what?

FGFan 04-28-2007 02:53 PM

Lucky you, I have Directv only TVG. I keep pausing the DVR, run back and check the CD stream, got the racing form everywhere, TV by the computer, but can't pause or back up, only on the giant tv up front, and it's not even derby day.
Naw, not sick, just extreme enthusiasts..LOL
How'd you get on that Brazil stream...I looked at it and got lost in the spanish. I want Brazil too now...and hey Hong Kong tonite

Merlinsky 04-28-2007 04:20 PM

Do you think they could just keep Aaron Gryder at the desk on TVG after his shoulder's better instead of putting him back on horses?

It was interesting to hear him and Frank, etc. talking about Talamo. Saying he's not only good but inquisitive so you know he's working to improve, not thinking he knows it all (which of course is a setup for failure if you're new). Sounds like he's on the right track with a good head on his shoulders.

Look at my hometown - I'm in Lexington. TVG and HRTV are business channels around here. Have had TVG on basic cable (1-99) for several years, just got HRTV this winter, in the upper tiers with the digital box.

Actually, its portuguese, but just as baffling. I spent a year living in Chile, so I have some acquaintance with spanish, which is close kin linguistically, so I can pick out the useful words.

Your right about the portuguese, I put it on the google translator first I did spanish then remembered portuguese, but it still didn't make alot of sense, I gave up.
Speaking of Joe T, 3 wins, 1 place, 1 show out of 7 races so far today with some nice prices.
Boy Lexington, CD and Kee...got to get there one day.
Are you going to the Derby?
