I bet morlana (race 6) before going to the paddock yesterday (I groomed her as a yearling and loved her)...I knew I was toast when she walked past and I was nearly knocked over by the overwhelming fumes of DMSO coming out of her...the ASS-man should be ashamed.

DMSO is Dimethyl-Sulfoxide... it's typically used on horses that are a bit sore or arthritic. It really helps to relieve inflammation. It penetrates the skin so quickly that if the person putting it on gets it on themselves (literally), they can taste it in their mouth. It tastes disgusting... almost sulfur like.

When you can smell it permeating off of a horse walking by, it's probably not a very good sign that the horse is very sound. (At least that's been my experience with it.)

Jman...what cajun said is correct...except..in this case she had clearly been given it intravenously...the stench was the DMSO pouring out her as sweat...it's a powerful anti-inflammatory...since she ran last, one could to put the two together and assume that she is having issues and maybe shouldn't be running...and since I happen to know what her vet history was as a foal and a yearling (and it wasn't great), I feel pretty confidenent in saying that she wasn't right

I used that horse in a couple tickets... thanks for the explanations. ;)

Well had a pretty good day considering how chalky it was. Lansdon's horse in the 7th made my day.

Just got back from Caesars Indiana. Watched a guy win over $180,000 playing 3 hands at $5000 a pop. Started out with $700. Unreal. My bro was playing at the table and the guy was making $500 bets for everyone else who was playing at the table. Bro walked out $3000+ and would've been more but they closed the table to everyone but the high roller. You should've seen the stall tactics going on.
